I played this game for a bit when it first came out. One of the major reasons I played was the idea of defending towns from an enemy. The whole concept of this game was that the Withered Aegis would be attacking cities and we would have to defend them. Did they scrap this idea? Does it happen at all? I am thinking about reacticating my char and am currently playing the trial offer. When I ask no one knows what I am talking about. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there have been attacks on the major cities (like Aughundell, Kion, Bristugo...) -- these attacks depend on the presence (and time budget) of a worldmaster. In other words: Soneone in Tulga (or GN for the Europeans) has to take the time to orchestrate such an attack. So far no player built structures have been damaged in such attacks.
Usually a warning appears in the main chat window (something like: A large undead dragon has been spotted flying towards Aughundell) that gives the players time to go to the place, get the buffs and so on.
The frequency of these attacks varies greatly. I can only speak for Unity where they are very rare, due to the lack of personnel....
