World of Warcraft is a cartoon - more than MapleStory is a cartoon (and it's meant to be!). WoW appeals to the daiper wearing gamer, whereas MapleStory appeals to the fun loving goofy graphics crowd. Reminds me of some aspects of the final fantasy series.
Forum signatures are stupid and annoying. I've turned mine off.
What are you talking about? WoW's Graphics arent even THAT Cartoonish... especially compared to Maple Story.
And besides, at least WoW is *cough* 3D *Cough*
I don't even play WoW and you pissed me off. (I Played in Beta)
yea i got pretty bored of it 2
ya i've played this game once at my friends house and I got bored of it really quick. my friend says he likes this game because you cant really beat it. What's the point then?
I've been playing maplestory for about.. 8 months O.O It actually isn't really that bad. It does get boring in the first 10 minutes, basically cause you haven't seen what other places are out there.. <.< When you're level 20 or so it gets funner I guess. There are quests and stuff for you to do, and I guess it really is just to dress up your character and kill stuff.. but that's the fun of it! If you go with parties do go hunting and stuff then it's just a time to have fun with your friends. The longer you play it, then maybe the funner it'll get?
Small Edit ^^": I agree with NakedDave (that sounds weird) because when you are a higher level like.. i dunno 35 it was really fun. You get to the harder monsters and bosses! Always fun to beat the bosses with your friends. It really is a fun game, you guys should try it. I mean there aren't that much free MMORPG's out there these days that are of good quality. I guess FLYFF and ROSE Online are also good games, but Maplestory is still one of my favorites.
In my previous post i wrote "there is also alot of fun quests in this game.." wich means that this game isn't all about "hack-and-slash 24/7 gameplay", for example. from lvl 21-30 you can join up with 3 of your friends or just random ppl you find in the game and do a so-called "Party Quest" this is when you are suppose to feel the side of the game that makes it into a community aswell as a game, in this party quest you get a certain objective that you must forfill to get to the next stage, and at the last stage you encounter the first actuall boss monster in the game "King Slime", the name pretty much says it all.. besides. they have now realeased the Cahs Shop, wich allows you to purchase in-game items with real money, in my eyes this is un-nescesary *not sure if i got that right* anyways. as i said, this game is fun, it's alot of fun!, and if even some of you dont like this game, or maybe even hate it.. i really hope that you can just try give WIZET a chance.. if i recall correctly this started out as a high-school prodject, im not sure if this is true but if it is, they've done a heck of a job!
First off, something tells me that frumbert has not played WoW.
Second, if you directly compare the gaming aspects of WoW and MS, WoW is superior in variety of play and "worthwhilness"
For example:
Quests. What makes WoW fun is the questing. (along with a few other things) There are over 2,000 quests, 99% of them worthwile (they give great exp. and a decent reward). After you reach lvl 10 or so (and this wont take long, maybe 4 hours of casual play or 2 hours of grinding), your quest log will be filled to capacity (20 quests can be in your log at one time) Also, it is fun to do the quests, because 90% of the time(you must do something in a place where you havent been. Another thing that should be noted is that each quest has a story behind it that is somewhat interesting (I'd say that they're really interesting, but im not a lore geek)
Now for Maplestory. From my experiences with it (lvl 20 warrior), I found 10 quests (many of them I couldnt do) They take a lot of time, and the rewards are meager. After searching around a bit (by looking at walkthroughs and FAQ's), I found that the total number of quests was around 30, with around 1-3 quests every 5 levels.
More on this tomorrow, my fingers are tired
Comparison part ? (hint- its more than 1 and less than 3)
Ok, so I gave more before tomorrow. So Shoot me.
Character creation, armor: In WoW, there are 8 races (the hair color, facial hair (male character only), hair color, and skin color can be customised) (4 horde, 4 alliance) and 8 classes (hunter, warlock, shaman, priest, pally, druid, warrior, and mage (I cant believe I remembered them ) As far as armor goes, there is a heirarcy for it. From lowest to highest, there is: cloth, leather, chain, and plate. At the start of the game, depending on your class, you start with the ability to wear a certain type of armor. at lvl 40, you are able to wear the armor that is "one step up" on the heirarchy (ex. Hunters start with the ability to wear leather and at lvl 40 can wear chain. Warriors start with the ability to wear chain and at lvl 40 can wear plate. Plate armor (and sheilds) is exclusive to lvl 40+ warriors (i think). Also, because armor is not class-specific, a player can wear armor that is below their place on the armor heirarchy (ex. hunters can wear cloth, leather, and (@ lvl 40) chain. Warriors can wear all types of armor (by lvl 40). As far as weaponry goes, all classes start with a proficiency in a type of weapon (or weapons for some classes). As you lvl up in the game, you can purchase proficiencies in other weapons (what can be purchased is decided by your class. for example, hunters at first start with the ability to use bows and 1-handed axes. As you go through the game, you can upgrade to use any weapon you choose (except wands and maces). Another (better) example is mages. They start as able to use staves, and can upgrade to use wands (they can't use swords, axes, ect.)
In maplestory, the only avaliable race is humans. Customization is limited. There are 4 classes (warrior, hunter, mage, and theif). You don't make the choice for class until lvl 8 or 10. The thing that I hated the most was the segregation of armor and weaponry. If you are a hunter, you can only wear hunter clothes (which look really... yeah) and you can only use a bow (not all combat is at range....). Nuff said.
Part three comes tomorrow (on the economy and community)
Comon guys grow up stop acting like 12 year old. Everybody has differnt taste some people like maple story and some ppl don't. Stop posting that u don't like this game. WoW is good game but mostly ppl under age 18 can't afford it. WoW is good but i hate paying $15 permonth i rather buy guild wars which same as wow but only 1 race. So people mind your own business. -_- peace
There's nothing wrong with maplestory, but I wouldn't readily compare it to WoW. WoW is obviously a higher caliber MMORPG, but it's also made by a big name company, and costs you to play.
It's true that maplestory doesn't have very many worthwhile quests, but it's fun to play from time to time, and the "party quest" mentioned earlier is a great social tool. That's where most of the fun in the game comes from, is just playing with friends you make. There's honestly no reason to be hating on MS, if you don't like it fine, doesn't mean its shit.
So you claim to have 9 lives ey? Well I've got 10 bullets! xD
Yea when i was a noob da game was quite boring. But then i found out sum stuff that hasnt' been released yet in GMS so i started to play alot more. Once you start gettin to a certain high lvl, around mid 40s sumwhere around dere it'll get fun, And when u get to a higher lvl then it'l be HELLA FUN!! i seen mai friends play their character and it was awesome. this is mai opinion
