Widescreen TV Question...

So I've been looking at some 16:9 HDTVs on various websites the past couple of days, and I was wondering something...

I know with regular (4:3) TVs, they measure the screen size diagonally (ex. 35 inches from corner to corner). Is this how it is done with widescreen TVs as well? If I'm looking at, say, a 26 inch widescreen, is it 26 inches from corner to corner or is it measured straight across?
