The only MMORPG i've had much exp with is EverQuest. That game was good until it turned into an xp grind. After Luclin and PoP the game changed players could Power Level to 60-65 in a matter of days. Casual players like my self got caught in a perpetual loop. They reach lvl 55 finaly and suddenly the new expansion makes lvl 65 the high end game and suddenly the high end game is closed off to you again. Well anyway I'm going to basic for the army in 3 weeks and when i get back there will be a ton of new games out all comming out around the new year. Anyway my question is can anyone suggest a game good for casual players like my self. WOW looks good Priest might be fun something with RvR would be neat. I always liked pvp just didn't work too well with all the twinking in EQ and no one wanted to duel unless they were atleast 5 lvls higher than me lol.

Well I've played nearly every MMORPG out now...Recently I dumped my SWG account till expansion comes out next year cause there isn't nearly enough game content...I did everything that I thought was fun in about 4 months time then got bored. I'm currently playing RO, and though the graphics aren't incredible eye candy, the jobs, skills, equipment, economy, music, and zones, I give them all high grades...very engaging...download it free from RO website, try it out free for 3 days. I'm hooked on RO like I was hooked on Evercrack years ago when I first played it, if you understand that feeling. Anyway, if you do try RO, download the Sakray patch and play on that server, it's test server and not nearly as overcamped as Chaos and Loki, also it gets the expansions before Chaos and Loki servers do! And boy do we like expansions! I wish you the best of luck in boot camp! *hugs*

Dark Age of Camelot was a good game for casual gaming. It wasn't uber-hard to level unlike EQ, trade system is ok. I've played a ton of MMORPG's also, none (to me at least) had the addictiveness as EQ did with me. Currently I'm waiting for Final Fantasy: XI. It's a great looking game, gameplay sounds good and has been out in Japan for a while now with a lot of followers. You can also "switch" classes if one is boring you... say, you're tired of being a White Mage... you can take the same character, and change their class, "set aside" the levels as White Mage and say start a Fighter. Later on, you can combine the two together... kind of like Multiclassing in D&D.
If anything, check out a gamesite or two for it, I think you'll be impressed.
There's no PvP "yet".... it's in the game, just not "turned on" so there will be PvP in the future.

DAoC is probably with EQ one of the best mmorpg out there.
In short I played recent games like SWG,AC2.shadowbane ,eve online. One common thing you see is the praise of DAoC and many people are giving horizons and FF as the last chance before they return to DAoC.
However it has its cons- 1)class imbalance.very bad issue they never could solve.A long lost comment in early beta from a developer was that they made a RvR and a PvE world and that a class would do very well in one but do badly in another. And it did work that way for some classes ie the scouts and infiltrators were horrible in PvE but did very well in RvR.But for light tanks like the mercenary it was bad in both worlds from the word go and they never resolved the issue.
Their solution was to sit quietly and wait for the class to die off. Before i left DAoC there were only 5 level 50s merc left on my server as opposed to the near 50-60 there was before. So essentially if no one to complain was left there was no reason to fix it.
2)boring crafting system.Compared to UO or SWG the crafting system is horrible.while the end result is good the means of gaining experience by crafting is horrible.
But mythic have done a great job in other areas to make this game a huge success and i think they deserve a hand for that.
WoW I wouldn't hold my breath on being released anytime soon...
There's Horizons, and don't forget about EQ2 ( I know... evil, but they of all should know what to correct to bring more people back )
So look those up too

Well if you want a game where everyone is going to be new.
1)horizons- release dat sometime hopefully december.
2)WoW- no release date but end fo 2004 seems about right
3)EQ2- seems to be ready for beta but not even started applications.March seems closest dat for release.
4)SWG- released 4 months ago but will be opening euro servers in less then 10 days but you might end up playing GMT time but its a fresh start server.
5)FFXI- release date this week i think.
