MMORPG with TRUE RPing

Guys, I am looking for a game with true RPing. One of the best I've found so far was Dark Ages, but it was only in the beginning after a while, a newbie invasion took off and it was never the same.

Does anyone know a good RPing game? Tried NWN and it was not that great, too much focused on hack and slash.

True RPing is hard to find among mmo's. I have tried serveral games myself looking for that.

I ended up in Everquest 2 on a Roleplaying server. Took some time but tracked down a roleplaying guild and joined them. Best thing I ever did Roleplay wise, great community and the world is VERY fitting.
Sadly I dont remeber the guild name, was a long time back on realise. Dont have that character due to back then the servers were overcrowded and I transfered to a different server to some RL friends instead.

Horizons is a very good RPing game.  Go on to order server.

Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

its a small niche game with seriously outdated graphics and sound, but its been around for 8+ years and I still enjoy it.  Check it out, first 30 days are free and the RolePlay aspect is strictly enforced.

"My game has the best RP of course.
But this other game I play has really good RP.
And of course there's always RP in other games."

Is the responses you'll get to this thread.

Got to agree with gargantroo Ultima Online has the best RP, dedicated RP guilds, good locations, customizable houses and clothing makes it very good for RP.

You can still find some decent RP guilds in SWG. Check out the Kettemoor galaxy.

I bet DDO will be a big safe haven for RPrs when it gets released.

I've seen more RPing in my limited time in MxO than I have in all time I've spent in every other MMO combined.  It's actually refreshing.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

In my experience, Star Wars Galaxies on the Kettemoor server, and Everquest II on Antonia Bayle server have been great for roleplaying.

At first it may be a bit hard to find us, but there is a large RP community in the Antonia Bayle server.  I have been involved with the community since the beginning, watching it grow.

On Kettemoor, I had a blast, but I haven't played SWG in a long while, but I think the same quality of roleplaying is going on there.

Also, if you like The Matrix, I used to play on the Linenoise server, which is not merge into Syntax.  On Linenoise there was a great RP community, but with the merge I can't say what its like, as I haven't played since then.  But it's worth a try, there seemed to be a thriving RP community for MxO when I left.

For upcoming games, I have a strong feeling that Dark and Light will have a some great roelplayers, in one huge world, and with alot of tools and opportunities for roleplaying, the community could be awesome.

Finally, Heros Journey is a game that is taking shape for roleplayers.

If you are really into RPing then stick to pen and paper RPGs. Still the best possibility.

Also, you can't really say that or that game is more into RP than that. In the end it's the players responsibility, no matter how much the game goes toward RP by design.

If you have the right group/guild (and maybe server) any MMORPG can be rewarding RP wise.

The first 30 days are free, after that its 9.95 a month.  Everything is player based, including ALL aspects of advancing.  The game is not without its flaws, but then again what game isn't, but a 30 day free trail, it worth checking out.

The majority of Saga of Ryzom players are RP'ers. One of the advantages of a mature community, loads of RP events run by the GMs and players too.

You can literally go up to someone and start chatting in character with them and they are likely to respond in kind. Thats one of the reasons I love SoR :)

Its a good game too :)

You should try the free trial and get to the mainland as soon as you can and start talking to people there :)

The best options for RPing is still either pen and paper or MUDs.  They will give you the best experiance.

I have never even seen anyone that comes close to what I consider an RPer except in UO.

I tried my free month on Saga of Ry and I didnt find anyone to RP with... I will say the people I met were VERY mature... and over all probably the most mature bunch as a whole I have seen, but it really didnt do it for me on the RP front so I left...

So where to get my RP fix... UO has this reinstate your character thing so I thought what the hey... and last night on the Catskills server was some of the best RP I have been in in ages!!! There is a pub in Trinsic and there were drunks, wenches, paladins, pirates! All telling stories and then creating their own.

If you ever get a chance to get to the Catskills server in UO and love to RP.. you will be doing yourself a huge favor by going there.
