Top Rated Games since Nov 2004

Well I'd like to add my cp (copper) worth.  I've been actively watching MMORPG since Nov 2004 (on a daily basis) and between Nov 2004 and March 2005; World of Warcraft was the #1 (rated) game here at MMORPG.

At the end of March or April 2005 Guild Wars took precedent, knocked World of Warcraft down a slot and I said to myself "hmm I wonder how long Guild Wars will be #1".  Today, October 4th 2005 (I was out of town yesterday, the 3rd) I see that Guild Wars is in slot #2 and Eve Online is now the user rated #1 game.

So World of Warcraft=~5months

and Guild Wars=~7months

I may continue to keep this thread to see how long games can remain the #1 game, or the rest of you can tell me to get a life and stop wasting threads ROFL j/k

Well how bout this.........can anyone remember what the #1 rated MMORPG game was for the longest time?

(ie Dark Ages of Camelot.......18months)????

It might as well just be a hype meter because there are only a few of us who actaully bother to rate the game instead of giving it all 10s or all 0s(or something to that effect). I'm really lost at EVE being up top though, it's 2 years old, hype should be over by now.

I've been watching here on and off since EVE was released. It has been in the top5 since release. As to the why after 2 years, Dinion, EVE's numbers are climbing steadily. Its expansions and immersion for those who get involved in it elicit very positive responses. Another thread here talked about the 'averaging' of the polls over time. Eve has gotten consistently higher numbers over time, which keeps it floating near the top (okay, at the top now.).

Love it or hate it, EVE is different than the majority of mmo's currently out there, and its growth patterns are different then the normal releases as well.

Erm, Guild Wars is tied with EVE, so you can't say Guild Wars is 2nd, it is tied for 1st, as a result, the streak continues.

Well, depending on Turbines job, DDO might break all records in Feb...or not even make the list...

 

EVE is an open PvP that shaft PvE players, and GW was always such type of game.  But this site has a lot of PvP lovers, not a problem, but like you see, they dont care for aspect that dont affect them (or they enjoy ganking in some case).

 

Considering everything, I think WoW will climb back #1 if CoV or DDO dont make it there, despite the fact I hate another raiding game, WoW is also only a tutorial, but if you exclude those 2 aspects, it is a pretty good tutorial.  WoW is the game that balance PvE and PvP the best, it is not perfect yet, but it outdo all competitors on this topic...
