Is DDO The Only Game Coming Out To Challange L2s Graphics?

I was just looking at some screenshots of DDO (Im kinda intrested in this game, seems to be to my taste and I like how there is only 20 levels) and saw they where REALLY well done. I look at Lineage 2 screeenshots (Im still playing L2 BTW) and see they are REALLY well done. So is DDO the only game coming out that will challange L2 Graphics?
Also, dont say RF online cause they are not as good.

Agreed, L2 still has some of the best looking monster/character graphics of any mmo. I think it may be surpassed by Zera though when it comes out.

Hmm I think people are getting a bit confused here. Perhaps people mean the way graphics are used. L2 does look pretty nice, but the games that are coming out should blow it out of the water. I'm thinking the OP meant in terms of artistic direction.
In terms of engine power, one would argue over various titles. But perhaps L2 just has better artists. Although, SUN:Soul of the Ultimate Nation (Korean atm) has some godly armor and weapons. Its in CB in Korea now, but to be honest it blows any MMO I've seen in terms of character quality, out of the water.
L2's graphics are quite dated however. The current games out now dont really push the fold with their cheap outdoor generated landscapes. I believe Age of Conan however will definitely be king when it comes to awesome looking landscapes. For character detail/armor so far, from what I've seen its SUN.
As far as technical newer more advanced graphics go......L2 was beat when eq2 came out. That is why you need a next generation graphics card to run it well. (6800+) As for other games coming out there are many that have better graphics. Webzen has created 2 of them, Huxley and Sun. I'm not sure that DnL will have better graphics actually but I believe it will look alot better. Just the great seeing distance makes it seem more real. The original poster just seems to be someone that is playing a certain game and we all know that while someone plays a certain mmo it is the best out at the moment lol because they don't want to admit they are playing the lesser and having to pay for it. I had a friend that play swg for I believe 3 years before he might have finally gave up on it. I played the game for about a year and realised it was horrible and that's why i'm waiting for DnL now. People get hung up on games in the mmo industry. Often times the first mmo that someone plays and gets into will be the one that they think is the best for all time.

I'm still thinking WoW is the best. But to be honest...I can't think of why it wouldnt be. You can level your entire way to 60, whilst constantly being on a quest. (A lot of games I've tested can't even do a simple thing like that!!)I.e., your not just grinding for the sake of it, but your going to get a big XP bonus at the end. In terms of PvP, well its just about the same as other games and has open PvP.
So yeah, I'm gonna wait for the next gen of MMOGs. I've already played all the popular MMOs and out of all of them WoW held my interest for the longest till I had to leave for personal reasons. Although WoW was my first game, so nothing really compares to your first game. But I guess its sorta like, once you've played one you've played em all! Thats how similar a lot these games are at the moment.

You are smoking something. L2 Graphics are good but both WoW and EQ2 blow them away. Ryzom's graphics are also better than L2's. I would also rate Horizons graphics on par with or better than L2. (Note: I have played all of the games I listed, not just looked at screen shots).

I mean cmon, WoW is a cartoon game. The lanscape is not nearly as good in Rysom, Everquest 2 is like clay-mation and all other games out there except for SUN and DDO are infereor.

No, L2 graphics are at best on par with EQ which is dated at best.
Texture and Art however are another story and from this perspective L2 is one of the top as far as good texturing.
Like someone else said L2 is running on the Unreal 2 engine, wich is quite dated now (Unreal Engine 3 is out now). The landscapes look bland and empty. They have landmarks and so, but between the landmarks there isn't much, just some grass and trees in a boring combination. The animations are stiff and not very varied. The characters are lowpoly. Some female models even have hair painted on to the face instead of having a separate mesh. Little to no difference between the characters. And personally I don't like the anime style very much. I prefer humans that look like humans and not like some 10 year old girls with giant tits and eyes. So I would say that most major releases after and around L2 have beaten the visuals in L2.

I really don't care for the graphics in Lineage 2, they look good in screenshots but in game it doesn't impress me. They're not bad graphics but in my opinion WOW and EQ2 blow L2 away, especially WOW which has so much style and beautifully done visuals that nothing out there can compare.
Hmm, to the people who say WoW's graphics are better, I believe your talking about it in a different sense. WoW's graphics have a certain 'style' to them yes. Thats why people prefer it. But in Engine power, there are so many games that were released before it that blow it out of the water. WoW has a STYLE.

I included the AoC screenshot, not to show off model detail, but the technology. The higher quality models tend to come later on the in the development of the game. Right now its in Alpha. I'd like to point out that the scenery is what really amazes me so far. Oh and that shot doesnt even come close to glorifying the scenery.
So now that everyone has actually seen all the games discussed so far. What do you think looks best visually. I chose mediocre shots for all of the titles as to not show off the best or worst of each title.

lol, u gotta be kidding right?
Ryzom has one of the most accomplished engines out there. I'd say even looking at screenshots you can see how good it is, but actually getting ingame and seeing things running gives a much better idea. imo has by quite a large margin the best gfx of mmo's i've played.
little link to our guild album.. there are some old screenies in here with lots of stick figures but the engine got a revamp about 6 months ago and now handles 100+ players on screen with very little image degredation.
