MMORPG IRTH ONLINE ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE AND PRICING STRATEGY DEDHAM, MA OCTOBER 9, 2005 Magic Hat Software, developer of fantasy MMORPG Irth Online, has announced the games official launch date is set for Tuesday, November 1, 2005. Pricing and distribution strategies were also announced. "Our November 1st release date is firm," says Alan Chipura, Lead Game Designer. "The many suggestions provided by our avid and loyal Beta testers were so valuable that we absolutely had to incorporate them, even though it caused a slight delay in the launch date to November 1st." At launch, Irth Online will be priced at $29.95 and the monthly subscription fee will be $13.95. Discounted pricing will be available in a Pre-Launch Special Offer to be announced in a few days. Irth Online will only be available for purchase online. "Two years ago, in the early stages of development, we made the decision to distribute exclusively online and havent pursued any publishing deals," says Mr. Chipura. "It made more economic sense for us to self-publish." Although no retail boxes are being produced for sale in retail stores, players who also want the game on disc may purchase Irth Online on DVD or CD-ROM for an additional $9.95 plus applicable shipping fees. Orders may be placed at www.irthonline.com and will be fulfilled immediately after the game is released. The Irth Online Story Irth Onlines virtual world is populated by three distinct PvP civilizations -- The Arcadians in the snowy north, The Morbus in the southeastern swamps, and The Mezoteks in the tropical southwest which have a thousand-year history of battling to capture the resources of the others to ensure survival. This persistent state of war inspired peace-loving pilgrims from all three civilizations to form their own civilization, and this fourth civilization in Irth Online is non-PvP, and survives via commerce in lieu of combat. Players join Irths history at a period when a fragile truce exists, and will determine the course of history of each civilization. Gamers are encouraged to visit the official Irth Online website at www.irthonline.com to get all the latest news updates and game details. About Magic Hat Software Magic Hat Software (www.magichatsoftware.com) was established in July 2003 in Massachusetts. Wow....

Nov release... It will be interesting to see what happens.
The only thing I can compare this move to is MXo and we all know the outcome of that...

If they can handle it, they'll be everyones heroes, if they can't they'll be laughing stock of the whole world.
GG
i beta tested this game in i hated it.. i like the idea and how it was planned but the gameplay and graphics made me just ill.
i rate it 3/10 because lack of feeling
We shall all die in vain.. you decide how!
Any time i get into a mmo beta i useally play the game to the wheels fall off.For example i got in on horizon at phase two alpha when the world was 90% empty and played up to open beta.30 minutes after playing irth online i deleted every file includeing the install file..How anyone could be intrested in this game with so many great mmo,s on the market and more on the way is beyond me.Save your money and go play the ad-ware version of anrchy online if you absolutly have to play something for christs sake.I hope the people behind this thing just let it die and dont drag it out like horizons did.Well at least the guy that does gucomics has another bug to add to the zapper.
All I can say is UGH! *shakes head* Just can't see it
Distributing purely online, don't know about that move considering you don't want to dwindle what little fanbase they have right now after all the less than stellar reviews from many people.
I played EQ2 beta last year. I posted that the game was not ready and they were just trying to beat WoW to the punch. It turned out that I was right, to some degree.
I recently beta tested Irth. It is far less ready than EQ2.
I agree the MHS will have to pull off a miracle for the release, but seriously, those who say they've beta'd it and its horrible, play for more then just a few days :P If you go onto the forums, you can figure out how to beat the FPS problem and similar issues. If you have played for 2 months and can't figure it out, then you must have a severe mental handicap or a very crappy computer (maybe both).
Anyways, I've beta tested this game nearly 6 months and its excellent with GREAT potential. However, I feel that it is nowhere near completion and this may be the death of Irth as we know it. I will pay for it, but I'm not sure if they'll last. However, I whole-heartedly support any decisions they make.
Sincerely,
Specusci
You must be kidding. You shouldn't have to read forums to get into a game and test it. I have an SLI setup (two Nvidia 6600GT cards) and 2 gigs of RAM on an AMD 3500+ and the performance was lousy, the controls awkward, and the graphics were painful. Adding to that, the world was nearly completely empty every time I logged in. I'll give most games a chance, but heck, I don't think even it's mother could like this one. If there's a game there it's being ruined by a crappy client.
I have a character that I had run far out into the wilderness. I wanted to see what lay beyond the starting town. Well a month ago I ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and saw miles of nothing. Green terrain, but no grass, no trees, no rocks, no animals. I put auto run on and left my comp for a while because staring at miles of green nothing is boring. Came back a long while later and my char was STILL running through nothing.
Anyhow, I logged out, and decided the landscape was just unfinished. Tested my other char, back at the starter town. After reading the release announcement I decided to log in and see if all that empty land had been filled. Nope.
The game is FAR from ready.

LMAO!!!! Gee, what an impressive gaming (beta testing) experience. Like I said on another thread ...these developers have no idea what they are doing.
I see those still supporting it even after realizing that this company has lied to them. Nothing wrong with siding with an underdog, but let's face it ...the Irth pooch has no pulse.
Here we go again with the NDA tactic again. If someone mentions some game feature with praise, there's total smug silence from the devs. But once someone mentions some game feature with ridicule, the devs immediately bring up the NDA. Try to be consistent.
Instead of trying to silence the less-than-happy customer with an NDA, try silencing them with a competently produced game. That way, the customers will love the product and they will be your biggest supporters and evangelists. What I'm seeing is a company that creates a shoddy product, gets negative reviews from the customer, then complains about the customer complaining.
This NDA tactic is getting old. In two weeks, you won't be able to hide behind this NDA anymore. Put your energy in creating a great game and you will be rewarded. But if you try to sell your loyal fans a dud, they will rip you apart.
I still dont see any lies.
