Is City of Villans for the casual player?

BleehBleeh Member Posts: 116

I am a casual player, up to 2 hours or so per night depending on if there's anything else going on and sporadically on weekends.  I like the features of CoV.  I want to know if it's a game where you can get something done in a couple of hour's play time, specifically missions/quests and crafting if Cov has it.  I realize something like a base-raid is going to take a long time and if I don't have the time, I don't have the time.  Thanks for anything usefull.

Guild Wars is still an MMO.

CoV is 1 of the most casual oriented game.

But you will never reach the TOP of anything, yet, you can progress a lot while been a casual.  The gameplay wont be that different from CoH, it will be harder however, much harder, the devs keep nerfing players to make it harder.

But yes, it will definitely be possible to progress significantly.

I agree That it is very casual player friendly. Finding a group is easy. The only crafting will be in regard to bases.

CoV like CoH are built for casual/hardcore gamer alike. The exception is the multitude of nerfs that have been going on recently in the game affecting the game for both sets of users.

A casual game is CoH/V indeed. As someone mentioned, you can play it casually, just don't get to frustrated when you don't see the experience bar moving fast enough. It's great to login, find a PUG, run a couple of missions and then logout w/o having to spend 2 hours finding a group, 30 minutes travelling to the location and waiting for everyone to buff up and manage their gear. Only to have a few key people lag/time out while running the mission.

If you aren't looking for a lot of depth in a game but like the idea of MMO's, try it out using one of the free trial passes before buying.

    just my 2¢.

    so...

I cant really say more than what was already mentioned. You can get lots of things accomplished.

Id probably say if you buy CoV and play CoV at launch, you can reach the max level in no time.

That is until they bring in the Issue #1 CoV patch. Thats when the nerf's start happening.
Then youll turn into a "I hate lord recluse/statesman" villain in no time. ::::01::

Yes, I think-like CoH-that it will be casual friendly, with the exceptions perhaps of the PvP zones, but you don't have to go there if you don't want. However, 16 months after CoH's release they're still making major changes to the design of the game and they haven't addresses a lot of the minor bugs and deficiencies that have crept into the game in the last few releases. Given the amount of churn currently going on in the beta I would avoid buying CoV until it's settled down and the majority of the issues have been worked out.

That is more or less true.  The best rewards are all PvP wise, so you have to go there if you want to progress and become the best past a point...and you will see peoples doing it progressing better than you and faster and be overall abusing this edge they earn in PvP...so you will be a second rank PvE character if you dont PvP.

Yet...it may not be extremely bad...but it is definitely heading that way.

CoH and CoV are very easy to jump on for a few hours and feel like you have gotten something done. Believe me i know, my wife never asks me to do anything till i start playing the game...sometimes i only get to play a half hour anight. That is still time for a mission. Just don't be afraid to join a group, there are alot of really nice people playing CoH and will help you alot.
