I played both and from a player's stand point, I'd have to say that Druid was both more fun to play and more valuable in a group situation. I could consistently be a secondary tank as well as group healer.
Priests aren't as good as being a tank as they are touted to be, and if you fallow the talent tree in a decent manner for healing in Druid, the Druid can out-heal a priest any day. It's been a bit since I've played, had to put it aside in early summer, so I'm not sure what nerfs or fixes haven't come about since then, but if you're trying to decide between playing one or the other, I highly suggest Druid.

Just dont go into playing a druid thinking you will do something besides healing. I have a 60 druid and have NEVER been asked into a group for DPS. Druids DPS is very weak compared to other classes, but their heals might be better than priests(not sure, ive never played a priest).
Just wanted to get out that dont be dissapointed if you do nothing but be healer by playing a druid.
If you need a healer for your group either will be fine. I have not seen a big difference between groups that have Priests versus groups that have Druids. On larger raids I think it's best to have a good balance of both.
As far as playing goes I took my Druid to level 60 and my priest to level 41 and while I enjoy playing a priest I prefer the Druid.
I've played a "Diet Priest" for about a year. Diet Priest being a restoration specialization druid. Priests are still the best pure healers in the game but druids do have more surviveability with the armor bonus from leather armor. i know priests get shadowform but hey, that's my feelings on it.
And yes on larger raids, Molten Core for instance, you must have both druids and priests because a druids rez spell can be cast in combat while a priests or paladins cannot. downside is there is a 30 minute cooldown on a druids rez.
also of note is the druids buff, Mark of the Wild, which is argueably the best buff in the game.
Ive been playing a priest for a couple weeks now. I have to say hes very easy to solo, dont even really need groups for quests except for instances. Druids are fun too, especially since they have had their talent trees reconstructed. Id go priest though heard a priests talent trees are going to be tweaked a little in the 1.9 patch though so its your decision, cant go wrong either way.
I dunno if druid can realy outheal a priest. Dont forget, priests get dmg absorbtion, that sort of counts towards healing, damage not taken doesnt need healing eh? Priests also have some agro reduction to stay out of harms way, plus they can fear in tight situations. And yeah, priests can rez whenever they can, very valuable when group gets wiped too often
In any case, druids are much more self sufficient, while priests CAN solo fairly well but ... i just dont like getting hit so much as a priest, even if i get hit and my bubble absorbs it. But, I already have 4 chars, so I dont think i will stop leveling my priest.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
Please give a description as to which one best suites your style and why. Or, if you are not playing either of the two, please inform us of which class you would rather group with!
