WTF NO ENGLISH ... I hate fuckign japs.. and thats all there is in this game... its already ruining it for me.. any good NON JAP servers? I thought we blew their punk asses up 60 years ago... They are like Roaches... annoying and hard to get rid of :P

I have also had problems with japanese players. so far since the release date my server has been heavily populated with more and more English players, almost 50%. But i do think that the Japanese players on my server are rather stupid, or ignorant. I've talked to almost 50 japanese players at least, either to ask for help or just to talk. Most of the time they reply back in japanese, so i use my translator...and then i tell them im using my translator....but they just dont seem to get it, they have no idea theirs a translator in the game, or even how to use it. ive only come accross 2 people who speak Japanese and English, so its easier to talk with them. Also lots of Japanese players just ignore american players.
i have at least attempted to reach out. Ive even learned how to read a couple phrases in Japanese, ive seen the writing so much. Youd think they could learn too. makes me so frustrated.

Well thank you Samusic, that was a good read, from a very honest and reasonable author.
Now I would like to officially accept my first "ban warning" as I say Screw You Bigj, your ignorant united states american ass is yet another example of why most of the world thinks lowley of the united states of america. And with attitudes like bigj there it is no wonder as to why. I am Canadian (another type of american, so is mexican a type of 'so called' "American", the u.s.a is a country NOT a contenent!), and this whole issue with FF0 is a perfect example of how other english speaking countries (especially Canada) suffer for the retarded political actions of the U.S.A. So I will wear this ban of warning as a badge of honoUr (the U is intentional), knowing that I rightfully stood up to a historically ignorant, child called bigj (the J stands for Jerk).
I for one will be watching this whole experience unfold, as both a citizen of NORTH AMERICA! and Canada, and as a M.A. of Anthropology and History.
P.S. Go die in a dark wet hole bigjerk

While I agree Bigj was completely in the wrong and his post should be deleted, yours isnt much better Finbar when you chose to direct your own cultural issues at the U.S.

I have stated nothing "bad" or "negitive" about the U.S. The above mentioned international attitude about the U.S. is a known and studied truth. These are not "cultural issues" of mine. They are world issues. That is not to say that they are the fault of yours Misti or any other generic U.S. citizen. HOWEVER they are the fault of U.S. citizens like bigj...

My point is this has nothing to do with his nationality or your ideas of how ignorant U.S. citizens are. There are racist and ignorant people all over the world. I think he should just be taken at face value for the idiot he is.
Statments like "your ignorant united states american ass" and "other english speaking countries (especially Canada) suffer for the retarded political actions of the U.S.A" seem pretty negative about the U.S. to me.
I agree he does reflect poorly on the United States but I dont see how attacking another nationality in protest to his attitude toward Japanese people makes sense.

i wasnt offended by finbar, its true, when we go on vacation to scottland or ireland, we pretend to be canadian because everyone knows that canada is nice and most europeans and other nations as well regard americans and pompus arrogant yankees because of the actions of certain citizens, i wasnt offended as an american at all by finbar i think he is right on target and he is also right on when he pointed out that it is known and studied about the world opinion of most americans. its funny many service men in our military that gain a greater respect for our country also come back with a greater respect for other nations as well. its easy to saythings about the japanese from behind your computer. just another sign of ignorance up there with talking about pearl harbor as if that was the opinion of all the japanese people and as if they still felt that way now, which it isnt. the fact is japan hasnt had a military to defend themselves with since then and when americans visit japan they are treated wonderfully and the japanese youths especially love the american styles and music and are moving in that direction rapidly , within the next generation i think we will see a mix of the free spirited american culture and the gracious, respectful courtesy of their own japanese culture. all the japanese americans that i know are all expremely friendly and the students at the local college here that are from Japan all seem to be very happy to be here and appreciate alot of the differences.
a friend of mine desided he wanted to learn japanese and go there and as an english teacher and within a week he had like 6 kids from japan all thrilled and patient to help him learn japanese. then 6 months later he knew enough to go over there and he loved it

Nothing Finbar has said has offended me in the slightest. Its simply that he is being hypocritical by doing exactly the same thing BigJ did that is frustrating.
Do I agree with what he is saying? No. His broad generalizations and skewed beliefs do not however matter to me in this context. Whether he is correct or not doesn't change the fact he has lowered himself to, or below, BigJ's position with such a response.
Just because his response was ignorant also doesn't mean Finbar is an idiot either though, even smart people say dumb things sometimes.
Also if we want to talk about pet hates, huge graphical signatures and lists of what MMORPGs I have played to show you how knowledgeable I am are pompous and annoying.
I would like to try to get the thread on to a more constructive topic. All this American server talk has two issues. Latency is one, and yes I want a European server. But more importantly MMORPGs need communication. Being in a game with others means nothing if you cannot communicate. As a roleplayer I feel this even more strongly, no communication equals no roleplay. So if we could all speak Japanese or English there would be no problem, but we cant. This is as annoying for them as it is for us. So you need English speaking servers. Every other game has them, why not this one? Plus you need at least one roleplaying server. I am not on FFXI yet, and it is these problems plus all the lack of community and gamer issues which are holding me back.

look. as much as we'd like to all say "blah blah idiot", and "blah blah jerk" about americans or whatever nation you may have a beef with, in the end... stupid people aren't limited to a particular country. they abound and proliferate everywhere in the world.
Even though whatever his name is may be from america, that doesn't mean that we should critize about americans in general on this forum. the thread starter (i can't remeber his nick for the love of god..) is an ASS, granted, and should count his lucky stars that that mods of the forum didn't take action on him right off the bat, but that doesn't mean that you, though you're intentions were sincere at rooting out the stupidity of the thread starter, were inapporpriate, in some ways.
He's an ass in the end. just ignore him, and maybe he'll go away.

They might be negative but to 75%+ people on this world they are true. I personally don't have anything against the U.S. in general. Yes a lot of people here might be ignorant about what else is going on in the world but I can't blame it on them. It's the school system and the government who are at fault. I mean I'm from Bosnian, left it when the war started (was 9 years old at that time) and then moved to Germany, where I stayed for 7 1/2 Years. After that my parents wanted to move to the US. I am now 19. I think it's a fact that there are probably more ignorant people here than in other places in this world(I'm not generalizing as there are people that aren't). THe thing is I hate people that generalize everything because you have to take iton a person-to-person basis. I've met some very nice and educated people here. Yet bigj is the example of what makes living here in the US so horrible as he isn't a single case. There are millions more like him.
On the whole, why don't japanese people speak English and not Japanese? Heck, it's a game played all around the world. It is their freedom to speak whatever language they want to. Just becuase you are American and speak English doesn't mean the whole world HAS to speak it just so you feel all big and bad. I am sure some of them will speak English with you as the majority of them does speak it. Yes foreign language is mandatory in most other countries. Just try to approach every person nicely and hey, what do you know, some of them might become your friends if you let them.
I personally heard the game is great and plan on trying it out as soon as my SWG and DAoC subscriptions run out.
Also, the canadian person letting it all out on bigj and the american population. Could you please condense that sig of yours? I mean put Beta: and list all games and whatever... Do you feel special becuase you've tested all those games? Or are you trying to show that gaming dev's have no clue what they are doing when selecting beta testers and picking you?
