Can someone give me an idea as to a typical player's day?

I'm going to be trying out this game fairly soon, but I'm aware that the short period of time that I might try out this game isn't going to give me a complete and realistic picture.

Can someone give me an idea as to the gameplay options a typical player might have in a normal play session? I'm really hoping to find a game that's multidimensional. I know practically every mmorpg has a grind, but if there are a lot of other things to do, it makes the gameworld and experience a lot more appealing.

Thanks.

Then this probably isn't your game.

If you are a harcore pvp player then sure... this will do. But the gameplay consists of finding a group or soloing in order to grind xp, money... the rare drop, etc.

The quests are somewhat utilitarian. There is a competition called "The Seven Signs" which allows for competition for seal stones in order to unlock powers for either the side of Dawn or Dusk (castle holders or non castle holders). However... it is possible to buy into Dawn, which many do becasue they don't like the4 "debuffs" that one gets if one is signed up and loses.

The sieges are very fun. The graphcis are great and the pvp animations are top notch. But this game is based on player relationships which then fuels alliances or enemies.

They are introducing fishing (where you can fish for items or upgrades) with your character. It's seems a bit artifical but that will be coming in the next chronicle upgrade.

I don't mean to put this game in the negative but it really isn't for everyone. Especially if you hate a hard grind. Sure... it's easier at the start but just gets harder as you go higher.

If you do make it to top lvl and then top lvl again in your subclass you can compete with other players of yoru same class in a competition for Hero status. That is also coming in Chroncile 4.

If you are looking for fun quests like WoW, hate being pked by players 40 lvls above you and aren't used to coming up with interesting ideas as to how to make money then this really might not be the game for you.

Typical day for my lvl 33 when I played:

Get on, check prices of different items people are buying and selling.

Then, go to Heretics Catacombs or the low lvl necroplis place.

Then, lvl for a while until I see someone close to my lvl.

After that, I get into a fight and we start PvPing image!

Lastly, I obviously win since I am the PvP kingimage.

That is not really my schedule since I do sooo much random things but this is what I try to set out to do. Many other things to do though like travel, pvp, festival of darkness, seven signs stuff, raid bosses, grouping, etc.

Thanks for the replies. My expectations were pretty much confirmed. Yes, I don't think the game will be right for me, but it's one of the most popular games. I'm really curious to see what it's like.

I'm in a strange dilemma. I really enjoy playing games..it's a relaxing way for me to spend some time and recharge. But it's hard for me to play non online games now because they all feel lonely, or kinda pointless. With a MMORPG, there is a community, and even though the gameplay is worse, there is a feeling of permanence and progress. These two factors make the gaming experience more satisfying. Sadly, I can't seem to find a mmorpg that can keep my interest. Oh well...

Well... why don't you tell us what you are looking for?

(Also... have you tried Morrowind? It is like an online game but solo. Also... the same company is about to come out with a new version in a month or 2 (well.. probably before christmas).

In any case, there are many online games out there that are "fun" and will fit what you are looking for.. .or at least willl come close...

Have you tried Wow? Or EQ2? Or Guildwars? And there are several new games coming out that also might fit the bill... you just have to be more specific.

I'm not to sure what you are getting at either. Its like 99% of any other MMORPG out there. There are quest to do. You can grind. You can pick fights with other people around you.

Your topic makes it sound like its going to be a chore. MMORPGs do lend themselves to a lot of repetive activity in general. I've only been playing a few weeks so far and I have found it to be NO different in terms of grind and quest activity then any other game out there. The content is primarily kill task. Think EQ2 type quest (go kill X amount of monster Y) The story in this game is in the players because its PvP and the guilds compete for castles seiges every week. Any other lore is trivial by comparison.

oh oh and there are some huge arse dragons in this game that no one has ever killed on some servers.

The thing with L2 is the community. They are different then most communities. They much more quiet and polite then most communities. You are going to make an effort to get to know anyone. The people I have met so far are really nice.
