Best game for a trader.

I am looking for an MMORPG that suits my playing style. I like trading and manufacturing. I'm not that keen on fighting and prefer mostly solo play. Could anyone suggest a game suitable? I have tried EVE and am not keen on the sound of Earth & Beyond. Any others with perhaps a good market system?

Playing Everquest for most of the time its been out and the only main rpg I have played, it is much based on equiptment and trading. Everquest even made an entire zone based on trading - The Bazaar, where you can be your own trader. There are usually 400+ people, so you wouldnt be the only one. Everquest is filled with lots of things, in my opinion.

    Hope that helpedimage

    STAR WARS GALAXIES!

    DON'T HATE!

    It's a great game!

Their is a tradeskill system in Everquest? To my knowledge... you need to be level 65 to actually sell crafted items... And the crafted items aren't really worth buying because the Planes of Power drop uber stuff.

    UO IS TO OLD!

In the olden days that game was fun...

uo is not to old wtf are you talking about.. it may be a little old but it is still one of the best mmorpgs out there, it was one of the first to hit the scene and it is still going strong, there are a bunch of craftables and rares. this game is still very much alive, to say that it isnt is pretty ignorant if you played uo in the olden days you would realise this i started uo in 98 and i still love it, i closed my account(s) but i still love the game, i just dont have means to pay for the game at this time

yes UO is old... You need to leave your little box...

Maxxx yes UO is old in years but thats it. its still has a strong player base and as a trader you can make tons of money gold or real cash. but as they always do there is always new stuff to do and the only game playable that you can mine, pick cotton, lumberjack, and get hides to craft your own stuff. i know ppl will yell SWG you can do that but nay i say when you ld every 5 mins collecting resources is a pain for further info im running above specs and on near t1 speed 1400 so its not me its them. but you can make more selling you stuff on UO. So in terms of years old but never gets truly old. UO is still the most versital game out there for ppl looking for almost anything to do i.e non consenting pvp, pve, taming, a good econemy. tons of things that make a really good mmorpg.

Well thanks for all the replies.  I'm still not totally sure but either Ultima Online or Horizons sounds about the best.  SWG has just had too many bad reviews.  Perhaps I should wait for the new Ultima X?

    Thanks again.

Star wars galaxies if you want a trader game by a mile.

You can fault the quests, the PvE,the PvP but you can't fault the crafting.SWG crafting is amazing if thats all you want from a game.

If you read the reviews you will notice a lot of the reviews are based on content and PvP  .The reviews based on bugs are mostly very old ones.Few touch on the class imbalance as per PvE or PvP but as far as the crafting goes yet to see a review that says it is bad and if such a review exist I would trash it .

Crafting wise SWG is miles ahead of anything out there atm.But if you know that crafting will be secondary to fighting then don't buy the game. But if crafting is what you want to do then SWG is game game for you.

Note this review is based on crafting not the general game.

In SWG you can be a tailor, weaponsmith, master artisan, armorsmith, artitect, chef, bio engineer .There are very specfic minerals, chemicals, hides, flora, water ,gas that spawns and different concentrations of it.The spawns are weekly and they vary in quality.you can use harvestors to mine them saving you having to sit and mine it .

Star Wars Galaxies.  It has an excellent crafting system, and an excellent economy.

Don't listen to the haters, they havn't played it long enough to understand/comprehend the game.  Some of them havn't even played it at all.

The only thing I warn you against is that it is hella buggy, and poor customer support.

    Challenge.

it doesn't matter where you put your house...

as long as you make really good quality items they will come and you offer good prices for your products.

Meaning if you join a Player Assosiation aka Guild in Star Wars... People mentoning your name = more money for you

Ok Maxx,  Uo is old.  It is old by game standards but it is still one of the best games I have ever played.  Most old games are awesome.  I remember playing those old Rogue games, they rule!!.  I find older games a lot more indepth because designers didn't concentrate as much on graphics and more on gameplay.  Ancient Domains of Mystery, and Unreal World,  good Rogue games are the best I have ever played.  If they made some old games with todays graphics they would kill all your new pretty games! image What i'm saying is that because they arent good graphics or where made 5 years ago, all this still doesnt mean it isn't good.

  • digitydarkmandigitydarkman Member Posts: 2,194
ive always supported that gfx dont make a game, then again i love the way uo is setup i still like the way the gfx are in that, most games today just go for all out gfx and no real gameplay
