need help with another game title...

this is a really old game, and so far, no one knows what i'm talking about and thinks i'm crazy 
ok, it's a 2d overhead view.
you control a tank and you have to beat the enemy tank/soldiers/helicopters and get to the end of the level(top).
and you can shoot to destroy them, or you can do this mind controling ray thing that takes over the enemy unit and make it into your own.
and all the units you take over goes into this inventory kind of thing and you can call out all your forces to fight (and it becomes like a mini-war, but your units stay only for a brief moment and then dissapear and you have to mind control ray more enemy units.)
sound familiar to anyone?

I played this so much when I was a kid, but never got to beat it...
maybe I'm just really crazy and it was all in my head.....
