Christmas Present

I have a friend who has never played an MMORPG. My friend is a pretty big fan of Star Wars, and I was thinking of getting him SWG for Christmas, along with a month of additional gaming (I'm assuming it comes with one month free already?).

Now before you SWG nay-sayers start flooding this post (there seems to be a bit of an epidemic on this site), please keep some things in mind...My friend has never played one before, he is a complete newbie. From what I've read, the problems most people have with the game is ease of leveling, or relative simplicity compared to other MMORPG's. I figured that if this really is the only problem, this may make it a better-suited game for my friend. According to the User Ratings on this site, graphics, sound, and community are its strongest points. He values quality of gameplay in his video games (I'm more of a graphics junkie). He mostly plays PS2, but recently got a new laptop and wireless cable modem installed in his house, so I want to get him something that is totally unlike anything on the PS2 (yes I know some MMORPG's are slated for release on PS2 next year).

Does anyone know if the price is coming down before Christmas? Any major patches that will make the game better? I would greatly appreciate any opinions...the longer and more descriptive, the better. I figured I'd get a better idea from the MMORPG gaming community than trying to read a bunch of pro reviews.

 Not that there is no real skill to the game but i found the game really boring and i couldn't see a newbie to mmorpg's get into the game. If this is your choice though i don't know if the price will be going down. But they are making space for star wars soon i dont quite know when...
