The Expansion is gonna OWN!!! All you people that lost faith in Blizzard are gonna suffer like crazy and I'll laugh so hard at you cause you won't be able to find anyone to group with cause you're all rejected!

spoken like a true fanboy, so I think i will just save my money and NOT ever play WoW with or without any expansions.

But I have to give you props, that pic of the 2 oriental lezbos.  Free porn > WoW.

    Don't bother.

WoW is a PVE campfest at its best.  You camp for months in instances to get the best gear, once you have it all, you camp the new dungeon for even better gear.  If you live for the PVE grind, then it's heaven.  If you want more,  then it's torturous.

The PVP is terrible.  I played on the PVP server, and it turns out there's really no difference from the PVE server.  Everyone waits in line for BG's.  A caged, highly controlled area that ppl flock to just to farm for more items that are available through that factions vendors.  There's no death penalites whatsoever, so there's no fear in dying.  This is coming rom someone who has played the game for a year, since beta.  Simply because there has been nothing better out.

No rush whatsoever.  I don't know about the rest of you, but i play PVP for the rush, without any consequences, there really is no reason to play.

DAOC had a great pvp reward system, and there was a penalty to dying.  I played on the 'dreds until buffbots became the norm.  The fact that mythic refused to do anything about being required to use 2 accounts just to compete eventually drove me off.  Seems recently they finally gave buffs maximun range.  A step in the right direction,  but a little too late.

If WoW came out with a FFA server i'd play agai.  It's a great game,  but as of right now, it's missing the most important part.  I'm waiting for the next good pvp game to come out.  Blizzard came close,  but failed miserably in the end.

Oh yes, that was another part that drove me from DAoC, the buffbots, I nearly forgot. I was a friar though, and luckily I could buff myself...but comparing a self buffed 50 friar to a bot buffed 50 shadowblade or berserker or any high DPS class and my friar would pale in comparison. I thought it was a really lame tactic and that Mythic should have really done something about it, but they probably just saw the extra income of players with multiple accounts and saw nothing past that. How unfortunate. I'd have to say DAoC has really been my best MMO experience though.

seriously go read Gamespots player reviews or Gamespys, dont listen to people here.  Theyre generally into smaller, crappier games here, sorry to be blunt but this forum is so free mmorpg focused along with hating on everything that is popular.  Eve fans galore being a case in point, you wont get the Eve craze here on any other gaming general forum.  DAOC is dead, want to know why?  They all went to WoW, so did many others, WoW's subscriber base dwarfs most of the mmorpg's out right now.  So unless you tend to like games most people dont, listen to the people here and dont get WoW.  Personally I reccomend you try it.

The problem with endgame PvE in WoW is you need a good guild, i mean a guild thats skilled and dedicated.  The endgame encounters past MC are very challenging.  You wont be doing too much endgame PvE if your solo or in a small guild or group.  Also the PvP is rreally fun, i think its funny how half these WoW critics dont know a thing about WoW and quit when they were nubs then talk about how WoW only has PvE.  As mentioned AV(Alterac Valley) is very fun, its mass PvP at its finest.  You get honor points for kills, etc. and this is why it attracts the 'kiddies' because the PvP is fun annd rewarding(PvP rewards are equivalent to some of the top end PvE gear).  Although i'd reccomend at least 1GB of RAM if your going to do AV or you will lag some.  WoWs combat system is also better than most of the other mmorpg's out there, in fact many of them redid their combat systems after CoH and WoW came out with more fast paced combat.

This site is good to keep up to date with current mmorpg's but alot of the opinions you get from people who post here are in the minority.  Let them use the Brittney Spears was popular analogy, trust me theres a reason WoW has so many more subscribers than 99% of whats available, and its not because of 12 yr old girls.  Its just a very well done game and world and caters to both PvE and PvP.   And while i agree the community is childish but if your looking for a fun GAME, i emphasize GAME not SIMs RPG, then WoW is a must.

PS every PvP games community is childish, talking fps or action style, not point and click stuff.   Old school UO PvP community was childish, EQ1 PvP community was childish, AC Darktide community was childish, ShadowBanes community was very childish.  I havent played a PvP game that didnt have its childish people who trash talk, grief, etc., but if you want PvP it comes with the territory.

Well this is quite harsh. Especially I wanted to point to Britney Spears anology. You mentioned it - and it is the fact.

We live in crazy world in crazy time. Britney is crap - yet she sells millions of records. The power of comercial is amazing. It takes one who is aware to understand it , but it is scary.

But let me go back to the point.

WOW is as I said good game. Sure it has it flaws , but all the other mmo's have them.

It is however SUPERBLY over advertized and overhyped. And when advertizer drive by burst of bullets fly it hits 80% population below 15. And that is a fact

Playing WoW is like - me going to the kindergarden and playing with kids in there! Brrrr scary now that i picture the community in WoW ... LOL

LOL are you kidding me?  where is WoW advertised?  I dont know why you people here make stuff up, but WoW isnt even advertised in the national media.  They dont have banners all over everyones websites like Eve, DAOC, and EQ2 have, they dont have commercials on TV like EQ2 has, they dont try and promote their free trials everyday like every other mmorpg does because their so desperate for customers.  if anything WoW doesnt advertise from mass media.  I swear alot of you people here love to make crap up to knock the game, then you champion some POS mmorpg nobody plays as better.  Then use the Brittney Spears analogy to justify the game you play having such a poor subscriber base but being better than something that gets much better reviews from the masses and professional reviewers(whom are usually 30+ yrs of age) with 100x's the subscribers, not to mention is played by diverse age group.

I challenge you to list all these media outlets WoW advertises to draw everyone in, i bet you cant support your claims.  Its just ignorant to believe people will pay 14.95/month because of advertising.  I think the real issue is more along the lines of denial.  Some people cant accept where their opinions stand when it comes to the masses and hold onto the idea their minority opinion is right.  When in the context of the big picture, minority opinion usually means bad opinion to the masses :P  This is why i tell people looking for advice here not to listen to the opinions you get from this forum, its just very skewed towards games that arent popular for a reason while these same people make stuff up to knock the more popular games.  Happens all the time here.
