Dofus the french animation style MMORPG has become free! 
I cant seem to find a catch either, although some aspects of the game are only open to 'full members' there is no time limit and tons of milieage in what there is, it seems they also expect sales of merchandise such as art books and similar items to draw a profit.
I beta tested, and its a great game but I did'nt think it was worth a monthly fee - without one its certainly worth a try.

Its free to run around in one town seperated from the "real" world. When you leave free/newbie area without paying subscription you can only talk & walk.
So no Dofus is not free, it has a isolated trial town with no time limit.
Also there are already 2 threads about this & a thread in the news section.

heheh. No but seriously, maybe i should of checked more, and its shame there are tons of catches after all but it is a great game and i wanted more people to see and appreciate it. Very unique, very ... err french.
