Why do people like EQ2?

I just want to understand why people play it, i played as soon as it came out and the econermy was like picking up pennies all day and the game play was the same for every single player. You might as well play a single player game with a scripted story because nothing changed. The only good things the graphics and theres a loading section every 2 seconds! Has it really improved that much since launch? SWG i found 10 times more enjoyable.

I will direct you to the EQ2 forums. Just watch your head when you walk in there. Standard equip is a flamethrower.
Yes the game has changed for the better. It's a very solid PvE game. Combat is better, there is class diversity, level is a much better pace.
However, as most PvE games go...as good as it is it still could not hold my interest for more than a few months. I guess 3 years of EQ1 will do that to anybody though.

Yup same same... played for 3 months... hit L40 with my Ranger and went into a boredom induced coma.
Its very much for your old school, roleplaying, bonded guild type people who dont mind creeping along gaining 1 level every few weeks after 30 and just mainly enjoy the company of guildmates.
Its more like a chat program with excellent grafix and some side amusements for you to play with when your sick of chatting.
To quote my own Siggy and Jeremy from Pure Pwnage.

My Grandma have a lot of friends and many persons like her a LOT.
I kinda like her, but not to the point to see her more than I need! Same goes for EQ2.

theres three main things that made me love eq2 as much as i do:
1. awesome community
2. i love the combat system (i know theres those who strongly disagree with me on this, but IMO it's the best out there)
3. classes are all fun and different (at least past 20)

Why do people like EQ2?
Same reason so many millions love Britney Spears.
EQ2 and Britney are both sleek, sexy, and pretty.
....and both have about as much substance as a Cracker Jack toy.
Sex sells. Graphics sells. In game depth and real quality is so rare in the flooded market of over stream-lined mmos today that those games are very under-rated and undiscovered.
Britney Spears sells more albums then George Strait. EQ2, WoW and Guild Wars all sell many more albums then does Asherons Call: Dark Majesty or The Saga of Ryzom. Does it mean they are better games? Only if you think Britney Spears is a much more talented musician then is Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jonnie Lang, or Suzy Boggus.
