I guess maybe I expect too much from someone who writes for THE source for MMORPG news.
It was an editorial. We run them frequently. I fail to see the problem with that?
The AGC panel inspired a writer to write an editorial. Simple as that. It was clearly marked as such. It is in our editorial section, the news item said it was and the author herself put it in the first paragraph.
What is even more baffling for me is that in another popular thread (that you mentioned in your post) we are getting slammed for our lack of integrity since we run IGE advertisements, yet in this thread when an author publishers her opinion, which happens to be against it, we clearly also lack journalistic integrity.

As long as the activities of the secondary market do not interfere with my game, a game that I paid for and which I continue to pay for with my subscription, I really don't care what they do or the idiots that pay real money for fake money. My mind still boggles at that. Anyone that wants to send me a 100 dollars in real cash, I'll be glad to send you back 1,000 dollars in monoply money. Any takers?
But these slime do effect my game. I could no longer play Diablo 2 because I'd no sooner get a game going that my screen is filled from top to bottom with spam. The text overlaying my screen made it impossible to play. They played a part in ruining that game for me.
Now it's happening in World of Warcraft. People sending me whispers to go to some website and get 1,000 gold for 99 bucks. Sending me in-game mail for the same thing. This pisses me off to no end. It's not been hot and heavy yet but I cannot help but think that a day will come when I log in and I have 400 mails from these bastards. Can't just mass delete, could be 3 or 4 REAL mails from buddies hidden away in the mess. And the private messages (known in World of Warcraft as tells or whispers). I start getting them every few seconds then any important information from fellow group members or raid members is scrolled off the screen before I can read it.
Another way in which I am affected. Farmers dominating a terroritory for the mob loots or natural resources. Areas I have every right to explore and utilize. But I can't because the farmers harrasment training mobs onto me or keeping materails spawn points covered like hawks.
In the real world advertising is controled by government regulation, but we are now living in an alternate reality where the government has no power...at least not yet. Companies like IGE don't care if they destroy my game...cuz some other company is always about to release their own game for them to go ruin next.
This is not what I pay for. If I wanted advertising, I'd read a magazine or watch tv.
Editorials are just fine and dandy, but this is not just an opinion piece. Yes, the stance of the author is stated clearly at the start, but the author isnt just giving her opinion; she is reporting the events of a game conference. Calling it an editorial doesnt make it so. The result of this shameful piece of drivel leaves the pro IGE side incompletely represented, and taken utterly out of context.

Next time separate the reporting from the opinion, and leave the yellow press at home.

Bias and editorial aside...
90% of what she quoted was verbatim the arguments presented.
This is what they SAID at the conference. I was there and listened. These ARE the arguments they had.
At one point Daniel James even said he'd rather just sit back and listen to the bickering rather than get involved in the panel.
And it's an EDITORIAL which means Laura gets to present her opinion in ANY form she pleases. That's the definition.
