was the beta contest only a dirty fraud?:(
I really dont like being cheated, i dont know if it is MMORPG's fault or Nc's, what i SEE is there has been a large lack of honesty by som part.
This really sucks, the game seems headed to become "Mourning 2", the vengeance!:(
That a good site like this bends to such unthrustwothy people!:(
Companies who cheat their customers (remember: who MONTHS AGO PAID CASH for a prerelease of the game has lost his hars owned cash and will not play any soon!) should be banned forever from any serious site!

Your poll is incomplete, where is the option for "I (Znarf) am an idiot!". Due to the NDA, all I can say is...people are and have been playing the game for quite some time. It is not vaporware.

If you'd care to read the official AA website, it is said that a new waves of invitations (3 or 4?...sigh!) has been sent 10/27: as i can read that NONE of the winners has got any such invitation, this only means that they are cheating and spitting on our faces!
If you like beeing robbed and cheated by this people, good for you...
As A MATTER OF FACT i have won a beta invitation: so that is MINE and the makers (BOOOHHH!!!) of AA are stealing my right to have it
I cant give a rat ass about how many people (3 or 4?) got invited on 10/27, FACT is that it was my RIGHT to get invited and i did not, so they are cheating and stealing!
About not beeing vaporware, there was people in beta in nearly any of wanna be MMORPGS vanished in these last years, that does not make them less vapor!:(

By the way, you winning a drawing for a beta key does not mean that they HAVE to give you one. They do so a their own descretion.

I think they are letting the beta winners in on the next wave of the U.S Beta which is being delayed till the next big content patch.

If Znarf had paid more attention to what is actually posted on the AA site, and less to his personal biases, he would have noticed that the nvites recently sent out were for the EU beta test.
The contest here on MMORPG.com was for a North American beta test key.
As Defect pointed out, there is an NDA in effect so anyone who is in the beta test cannot even admit they are, without volunteering to be kicked from the beta test.
Again if Znarf had been paying attention to what is on the site, he would have noticed Pann informing the community that

He would have waited patiently like the vast majority of other gamers who want to partake in the beta test. There are a lot more people who want into the beta test than there are in the beta test. Most of us are patient, and will be happy to get in when we can. Then there's Znarf.
On a personal note, given the surprising lack of respect Znarf has shown to fellow gamers simply attempting to clear up his mistaken conclusions, I would laugh heartily if NCSoft decided against allowing him in. It would be somewhat appropos.
But odds are they'll wait till he violates the ToU by harassing other players after he gets in.

I won beta on MMORPG and still no invite.
Now all i can say is they can stick their beta in their stupid ass, dont give a damn any more and Im sure they lost most of the people who won. This is kind of treatment what you funboys can expect from NC in the future and if you are stupid enough to think they care than you are fooled.

well they really shouldn't get all the free advertisement of holding a contest like this if they aren't going to honor the winners.
and don't tell me 'have patience' if you are going to let people in 6 months down the road, hold the cotenst 5 and a half months down the road

They're the ones that decided When to hold the contest.
NCSoft agreed to the partnership, but never said when the site should hold it.
Had mmorpg.com bothered to ask about beta wave timing and updates, I'm sure the devs could have told them what state things were in.
But hype is hype, and mmorpg was more focused on getting the hits from the contest than how the winners would feel about the timing.

The people getting really upset about having to wait: were you this riled up about the game before the contest?
Seems to me, there's a ton of people in the Loser's Lounge on the actual AA forums that have been enthusiastic about the game since it was announced, all patiently waiting to get into the beta.
Perhaps it's a completely mistaken impression, but I can't help feeling that at least most of those "whining" about having to wait to get in after winning the contest, are only interested because they won an invite -- that except for this contest they never even knew about AA or had requested a beta invite from NCSoft. Am I completely off on this?
Znarf, vipjerry, fulmanfu -- how long have you guys been following AA's development? Where did you first hear of it? Can I find you all on the official forums? Have I already run across you in the Loser's Lounge?
Because by and large, those that have been enthsiastically waiting for an invite for over a year probably aren't whining about waiting a couple of months. At least the winners know they will get into the beta. That's leaps and bounds ahead of the vast majority of us.

Sometimes betas get delayed. They had planned to enter beta closer to the end of the contest, came offering beta keys for said contest, then higher management decided the game should be delayed. MMORPG.com had no role in that decision. It is also a pretty safe bet to guess that those at NCSoft who arranged the contest with us also had no say in that decision. Both sides were operating under production dates and as you have all seen a thousand times before: production dates are often pushed back.
As a result, those who won will get into beta when they open it, which is now later.
I'm sorry it worked out this way, but there is no nefarious plot underpinning it.

I preorderd about 3 or 4 months ago, still no invite, I won this contest around a month ago still no invite..
this reminds me of the face of mankind beta; BS from day one.. I mean they have been selling preorders with beta on the box for around 4 months..
Yea im bitching because the consumer got shit on plane & simple.. & the defence is the statment "priority doesnt mean now", yea well i can read & its still BS, "print that on the box then".. Wonder how many hundreds of people preorderd because box said priority beta on it & dont forget the big carboard displys say beta also, I mean it printed on everything..
I look forward to playing but they have had my 50 bucks for months with no refund options if you recieved the preorder already.. Really piss poor customer relations IMO..
If netdevil cant hadle the influx of people or the game is to crappy at this point to let more in, then dont sell the dam thing & offer beta contests 3/4 of a year before retail.. I mean come on..

I know the game is pushed back for good reason, but again thats my point it was no where near ready for beta or preorders, it was just marketing blunder, but one NC should be able to admit to IMO, rather than say "priority doesnt mean now" Congrats we all became marks for the sales figures & nothing more.. whole thing is GAY..

Giving an invite and renagging the invite is not a violation of rights.
But anything could have happened. To whine about it is futile. If they are cheating people, the truth will be known soon enough.

I think those of you complaining about not having recieved an invite need to stop taking things so literally and start reading between the lines.
Yes, there was a beta contest that you may have won, giving you a place in the beta. If there was no specific date said when you would be allowed in the beta, and only that you WON a place in the beta, then you havent been lied to. Has the game been released yet? Nope. So there is still plenty of time left to get into beta.
Also those that complain about not getting into beta because they pre-ordered, does the box or advertisement for the pre-order say you will get into beta by so-and-so date? If not then quite whining. You pre-ordered and they said you will get a beta spot. Whether that spot is given to you now or a week before release, thats up to the compnay, but its up to you how to interpret what they are saying.
By saying you won a beta spot, NC Soft gave a version of the truth. They never said you will get into beta at the ending of the contest, or even a month later.
Now if a specific date was given to when you would get a beta spot, thats another matter.
they did have a fall retail date when i bought mine, it was that long ago.. Fall retail was all over the place months ago even NC had said fall retail, So yea even expecting the retail dated to get pushed back i hoped to at least be in the 2 hour beta by now.. Plus the MMO contest i won.. Im not mad anymore i got over that months ago with the preorder thing.. i just with they had there shit together before they went selling beta spots..

I will point out though, that mmorpg reps got awfully silent about it when the winners started feeling slighted, and let NCSoft take all the blame, and didn't feel the least bit called upon (perhaps by virtue of being the site offering the prize?) to ...
but if there were, wouldn't you say that anyway?perhaps make this exact post in a very public space right away?
And fulmanfu I'm sorry if I came off snippy and snide, but we all know there are a lot of people that do only see betas as 'free game time' and some of those making .....
