My Official EQ2 or WoW Thread

Ok, help me decide. I don't want any flaming or stuff like that, what people do and don't like about one game or the other, and a final opinion/vote.

I played WoW for awhile, several monthes after release, and didnt even play for a month and left it, didn't see much of an endgame. EQ2 I played at launch, for about 3 months, then quit because it got grindy/boring, and people kept leaving.

Thanks.

If you want a worthwhile endgame and a reason for the grind then I would recomend DAoC.

Yes - and then I took the time to read the post and the vote box as well.
The third option in the vote box is "Neither/something Else"

That indicates that the poster is open to suggestions. I made a suggestion.

Anything else your struggling to understand ? ::::34::

I put neither because if you've tried them both and weren't entirely happy why go back to them.

Unfortunately I'd say that WoW, GW and EQ2 (probably in that order) are the 3 best fantasy MMORPGs on the market at the moment...by FAR!  (OK, GW isn't entirely an MMO...but it's on this site...so it's worth mentioning)  So, if you've tried 2 of them already, and if GW isn't your style, then I'd say you're out of luck.

If you tried both yourself.. why are you needing our help in deciding ?.?
Surely you know better what you like than we do.

    MMO Fav List:
    Lineage 2 | 5x Silver Ranger, 7x Shillien Elder <- Active
    WoW | 6x Rogue, 1x Priest
    Anarchy Online | 8x MetaPhysicist
Saga of Ryzom | Matis Light Armourer

Waiting for: Age of Conan, Lineage 3

Warc, don't mind DAoC fans, they have always done that and in honesty, the EQ community is thankful since it attract the folks we never want in the first place!  image  And it is not that bad, they come, they bump, they go.  Now they even go so far as to claim that PvP players are a majority of players, which is pretty fun I assure you.  In my surrounding, all men & women around 30, I can assure you, PvP fun is a minority...a tiny minority...especially outside of a shooter and a 1 night consideration.  But they claims they are majority, yet, can't blame them.  Raiders have done the same and the devs believe them...and there are more PvP fans than raiders at any rate, but even put all together, they are a tiny minority.

As to which game playing between two games you personnally play 3 months already, I would not dare to try to advice you.  You know them both.  You know if any of the 2 can please you or if they can't.

    Done what ?

In all honesty man what did I do ?
I just recomended an MMORPG with an end game.

Where did I make great claims for DAoC or decry EQ in any way ?

Perhaps it's a language thing, but it amazes me what some of you guys manage to read into one sentence ::::05::

EQ2 and Wow are probably the 2 mmo currently on the market with the biggest production value. These 2 actually feel like proper finished products. Both being several years in development (Wow 3.5 years and EQ2 5 years). It shows. No games comes close in the amount of polishment these games have.

Wich one is best? I personally think it's Wow. Because Wow is more my style. More casual and less grind. But I really enjoy EQ2 too. If you are a casual player and like a pvp world go for Wow. If you are a hardcore player who enjoys pve and more grind go EQ2. EQ2 will have open pvp soon to.

Both EQ2 and Wow have one. The Wow has no endgame is a cliche that wears thin now. Since release there have been 8 endgame content patches. You can't say that Wow doesn't have a endgame anymore. If you like it or not is a different story. But "I don't like Wow's endgame isn't" = "Wow has no endgame".

You recommended Daoc in your first post. And then you said in the post I quoted you from: "I just recomended an MMORPG with an end game".

Didn't see that, I thought this topic was all about WoW vs EQ2 because I was looking at the title image

    EQ2...and if EQ2 delivers a proper PvP...EQ2 for the win.  4

I don't currently play DAOC but I do agree with the poster who recommended it.

You've already tried both games. Why go back to either? If you found both games lacking I'd recommend trying something else. And DAOC is a very solid title to try. The graphics are a bit dated but it's still a very solid game. And the PVP is the best in any Fantasy MMORPG I've played.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Having played them both I'd have to say EQ2.  More depth, immersion, etc.
  • FadinawayFadinaway Member Posts: 270

This is always a strange question.

You will never get an answer that suites you unless you answer the question yourself.  EQ2 Fans will recommend EQ2.  WoW fans will recommend WoW.  DAoC fans will recommend DAoC.

You played them both.  Which one did you like the most?

I can understand you for leaving WoW :)

My advice is take a look on FFXI. The spirit/gui/gfx/endgame is all wonderful
and you make a lot of friends since it's very group oriented, but you get groups
easy for whatever you need to do, at least when it comes to exping :)

Actually I can see there how it might look as though I was implying that DAoC had an end game but the others didn't.
    I wasn't.
I was simply offering the OP an alternative as he dosn't seem overjoyed with either EQ2 or WoW ::::39::

WOW is the superior product . I just came from EQ2 , what a slow painful game. The only thing EQ2 has that beats WOW , is the player base.

i also have the same question pretty much.a few days ago i left WoW with 3 lvl 60.i never got to BWL and i did not get all my end game gear from MC.there is lots of end game content.content that is a grind all in its self.i spent months in MC and for what i finish some armor sets thats it.all the end game content is so pointless and hardly makes you feel any good accomplishments at all.PVP is good combat wise but its just as worthless.maybe the expansion with change these things.

My first MMO was SWG so i thought that was an awesome game.after Playing WoW it cant even match up with it but i still had lots of fun witH SWG and have been thinking of going back.

ive never played any EQ games or DAoC.im big into pvp.so keeping in mind im coming from WoW send me in the right direction on where i should go from here please!

    EQ2 all the way!!!

Yes, I have tried EQ2 and WOW...

WOW is an amazing game... for the first two months... then, you want to bash your face into your keyboard because of boardum.

    EQ2 isnt like that.
