You know I never really thought about whether the female avatars on the game were real females or not, I just assumed they were. I dont understand what is with the younger generation if they think girls or women dont play MMORPG's either. I dont understand either why a male would want to play a female on a game. Im a man im proud to be one so I play one. No offense to those of you who prefer to be the opposite sex in the game. I have a brother and his dad that does it.

Second, that article is great! I have a friend thats a girl and plays wow. She is very attractive believe it or not. She thought the article was the funniest thing ever because she says its so true. She also uses vent and gets accused all the time of someone letting their grilfriend talk. People are retarded.

i play 80% female chars ... i dont wanna look 10 hours a day on a male ass while playing ;P
Originally posted by gargantroo I hate to say it, but I dont play games to look at the ass. Maybe Im just wierd though
No, not weird, just have different taste. I personaly love 3d graphics, expecialy women in 3d graphics. I appreciate art but I appreciate more when women are repsented in an artistic expression (picture, video, 3d rendering).
When I play WoW, it is mostly for the gameplay, but once in a while, I simply sit back, and enjoy the lovely view of my NE hunter or a human paladin. And thats when I think: "Yes, thats exactly why I made my character a SHE". I can always appreciate the beauty of a female image, whether it is in a video, picture, or rendered in a game. Its all good.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
I saw this a couple of days ago and it has hung with me ever since.
I can only hope that we'll be able to have a completely level playing field where Men and Women can game with out either being ridiculed for simply wishing to get their +2 sword.

I wish I knew these people who disliked wow. Not the ones who simple dont care for it, but those who actually think it a bad game. I'm just curious what kind of people they are.
I know alot of real girls who play MMORPG over the years I have been playing them. And often enought if they play the game enought, they are just as good or even better. It's all about homing your skills, if you dont practice then of course you'll get own by them. Of course there is always the one class own the other class just cause :P ... but lets not get into that. For people who are all against this idea of female playing the game... Go get a life. It's awesome that female are getting into the gaming world... I for one dont wish to just talk to males all the time. Lets face it we are boring to talk to, all we do is talk about killing or getting this item or that to make ourself more powerful. I do that too but it's nice to have a female friend to just talk every so often. Female often brings in good to the game, mostly positive... once in a while you're run into a b***ch. As for the guys who play female character I dont have a problem against that but it really bugs me when they try to role play a female or pretend to be one for items etc. I would gladly help ya if I had the time for it, why all the pretending ?
When I played SWG there were alot of women in my guild... Many of them was as old as my mom which if found VERY wierd.. at first. I got used to it pretty fast though and now I never get amazed when i meet a girl or woman ingame.
I usually pick a female charecter as my alt, just to get a break from reality sometimes... I don't find that weird at all, after all.. don't we all play games to get a break from everything in this wierd..fleshworld?

You know, it kinda freaks me out to see this reaction to my gender playing MMOs and being online to begin with. It's something I thought had been phased out in the early 90s. I've been playing MMOs since the Ultima Online beta and never made a secret of my being female and people, for the most part, accepted it and didn't make any kind of issue of it.
I recently left Star Wars Galaxies becuse the people at Sony Online Entertainment wouldn't know good programming and customer service if it bit them on the ass. Coming to WoW has been an exercise in culture shock. The game itself takes some adjustment because I'm used to more complex and more challenging game mechanics than Wow offers, but that is nothing in the face of the difference in the community behaviors and outlooks. It's literally as if I had stepped from the normal world into some alternate dimension where no one had ever laid eyes on a female before.
I don't really understand the phenomenon. In other games, females are known, accepted and treated more or less like anyone else would be. But in WoW... my god... women are NOT treated well in this game. We are either verbally abused and ostracised because people can't believe that anything lacking wobbly bits can't pOSSIBLY be a decent gamer or put on a pedestal by people who seem to have never interacted with a female in their lives. Either reaction is unacceptible behavior -- and NOT the usual way of dealing with the meeting of the sexes online in gaming.
This is a WoW thing. And I don't get it. Just like I don't get the entire Vin Deisel/David Hasslehoff/Cry More Noob thing in Barrens chat.
So I have to ask. What is WITH you guys? Is it an age thing? Is it just that kids under the age of 20 just don't know how to interact with females yet? Or is it something else? I really want to know.

Sorry, can't be, didn't you read ? Don't you know ? Girls don't exist on the internet !
Seriously though, dear god guys ! Don't be so freaking surprised, it was only a matter time that we got better then you at playing games anyhow ?? so why fight it ?
Oh and that entire issue of The Escapist should be required reading for both female and male gamers as soon as they know how to boot up a computer.

I think it's natural to pick to gender you are in a game. For me it's the same as walking around in male clothes.
Around 3 females in my guild on WOW 2 regurly talk on ventrillo, 1 of those is married to another guy in my guild so makes things fairly interesting.
Good player though in general nothing different than any other normal male players.
Ya know theres alotta unattactive, old and/or fat women out there, and men for that matter. WHat would make MMo's any differnet?
