Reboots after 20 minutes

AlmeidaAlmeida Member Posts: 19

I signed up for a 14 days trial and I'm running the tutorial now. The game runs beautifully but around 20 minutes logged on the computer just reboots without any warning. It happens every time around 20 minutes mark. Any idea what could be the problem? I've installed the latest graphic drivers but the problem is still there. Thanks.

Post your computer specs, including the wattage on your power supply.

Ok what is the best way to check the specs and the wattage? Any utility I can just copy/paste the relevant data? This is what I know:

    Athlon 64 3200+
    RAM 512 Mb
    ALL IN WONDER 9600

Do you think it's related to the power source? The computer runs perfectly with everything else, but the moment I run Eve 20 minutes later it will always reboot. I'm not running anything else except the firewall and anti-virus.

EVE Online is a very CPU-intensive game. If your computer case does not have good ventilation, running EVE Online might overheat it and cause the computer to either freeze up or reboot itself. If your power supply does not provide enough voltage, your computer can also exhibit the same reactions.

Have you tried playing any other graphics-intensive games? If so, what are they and do they work fine?

If you are positive its not your PSU it might be your cooling. I had that problem, turned out there had gathered so much dust in my heatsink it was clogging up the airflow. You have a setting in your bios where you can make it so that your computer shuts down when it reaches a certain temperature.

Try downloading and running speedfan and controlling your computers temperatures. Im not computer savvy btw, just speaking from my of own experiences.

I too vote for overheating. Most PCs these days have emergency shutdown procedures to prevent damage when things get too hot.

ok i understand now ill try some of that stuff you guys said like clean dust out which there probly is since i havent cleaned it in a while and see if that solves the problem cause when i played b4 it was when i had my pc brand new. thanks guys i can always count on you all here on these forums

Try playing with the case open once after you clean it. If it still does it, you can probably rule out overheating all together.

Used to have same problem (not just with EvE although Eve did crap out more than others).

I cleaned the insides of the PC out and now play with the side off and no probs, so I too vote it is prob an overheating issue.

I can't open the PC, it's still within the warranty period but I will run speedfan to check for problems. Thanks guys.

Ok I tried the cleaning it out and playing with the lid off it and it still does it and now instead of after 20 min its like after 5 min it reboots so i dont think it is the cooling issue cause my computer is running fine during the game and doesnt even seem to be running hard or anything.Maybe its because i dont have a good video card in here now. Cause when i played b4 i did have it  and then it like broke or sumtin(piece of shit) and i just put back in the old one that came with the computer now.but still when i first put the game in its running perfectly and then BAM!!!it makes a weird noise the screen goes black and it restarts.Jeez this bugs me so much cause i wanna purchase this game and now i cant. Maybe i should call the or email their customer support, but thats like what you do when there is nothing else cause customer support lines suck and they never help. anyway im just rambling on.So if anyone knows anything please tell what my problem is.

In my case the computer really is overheating. I've checked with SpeedFan and the BIOS right after the reboot and the CPU is over 85C! I need to have the computer checked. Thanks for the help guys.
