Sure. We can trust him to tell us exactly what we want to hear. Would you expect anything else from a business manager?
But isnt what hes saying the exact opposite of what most people "want" to hear right now? like "The game is faltering due to a massive drop in subscriptions" or something along that path.

Hows this for another example; I used to play beta and then launch -quit later, came back again pre-CU, still didn't like the way the game was and quit again.
My complaint with the game both time was the shallowness of PvP and general fighting...get good armor, sliced weapons, buffs... it was stupid, time wasting and not fun. And once you started on your chosen path you started your grind. There was no point to half the game. The most fun I had later was being a ranger, finding the newest creature resources and collecting them. But that was my niche, which is what you needed to do to have any fun in the game.
I so very much hated the hologrinds. The economy flat out died, then went up and down more than a sin wave. I never wanted to be a jedi, which alienated me from the game when that was all the devs were catering to.
Like I said I quit before the CU but I heard enough to feel it was a step in the right direction, not a huge step, and as it has been proven, not really effective, but the right direction nonetheless. With this NGE its what I'd call a bound in the right direction.
Everything I hear is something I've always wanted from the game. The new combat, from what I've heard sounds interesting, worthwhile and generally good gaming. I was reading the boards and someone talked about a good 10 minute duel they had with someone, running all over a city, using specials, hiding. THATs the game I want to play. Quest based leveling is more fun, and most the the proffs get perpetual quests now. Another thing I'm glad to hear. Even the reducing of the proffs and making it so your locked into one, I'm happy to hear. The old system was nice, but it actually DIDNT allow for creativity. If you wanted to be effective you had to fit into one template or another. Sure, there were tons of tiny variations, but you could group most of em together into a handfull of archetypes. With the new system its actually easier to pick up whatever weapons you like within your class, and it takes more than a little skill to be good at the game.
I'll admit too that there is still more than a few negatives too. Probally the first being SOE. Flat out, they suck at their jobs. Enough about that though. There are a ton of bugs. Given how fast this all came about thats sorta expected. And its SOE, look how long it took them to fix bugs in the game before, if they did at all. And I never did a ton of crafting, so I can't speak for crafters. From what I've seen they took the worst hit. The system before WAS unique, and I'm sorry to see the diversity in that go. But the future is still wide open.
One last thing (everyones pretty sick at this point, eh?). I'm happy to see jedi as a starting class. I say this, despite my not liking them, for two reasons. 1) It will attract more players to the game. Look at what people have been saying, and what people think, jedi are a definate crowd pleaser. Sure, some of these people won't be anyone I want to be playing the same game with, but hey, that makes the new combat involving skill all the much sweeter. And it will bring back others and attract people who I do actually want to play with. 2) The jedi finally get off their friggin high horse. When jedi were supposed to be rare, I had very little problem with them being 'elite'. But they become more and more commonplace with every tweak to the system. People say they worked, and yeah they did, to get jedi. But it was the best damn thing in the game, and the strongest, if your a powergamer or want to really get some 'uber stuff' you HAD to be a jedi. Now their just a joe-proff like everyone else. No special treatment, no pertencious nose in the air, and on the same playing field as me and everyone else who wont be a jedi. The games got its share of issues, more than most I'll warrent, but I'm going to give it a try again, and I'll be damned if it aint worth it.

As an example here is a link to my guilds homepage and a post from one of them The NGE seems to generate more interest with these veterans than amongst most of the current players. Have fun Erillion You state that on your server "old veterans ARE coming back", yet you give an example of only one person... Surely you have more testimonials to people who have tried the NGE and are actually resubscribing, right? Any concrete numbers? The only reason why I question it, is that I am a long time vet, pre holo-orgy days and I have zero interest in coming back... In fact, my entire guild that used to exist on the Tarquinas server also has zero interest in coming back... We know how buggy the launches are, and downgrading to 9 proffessions isn't floating anyone's boat these days... I think you are over-exaggerating... On the other hand, there is a pretty amazing list of cancellations listed on the Ahazi server boards on the SWG boards...
Um, and you have EXACT numbers on who doesn't like it game-wide? That's just ignorant, an example is just what it is, an example. Don't bring the conversation to a petty level with critisism and nitpicking.

For the most part, I agree with Novaspike. Of course, the player community has very good reason to mad at SOE. Even if it does seem to be too late for them, they are STILL trying to make the game interesting again. I also am one of the veteran members and I do actually appreciate the NGE. Bugs are a curse we have to take for granted until they are fixed, but the core product seems to work just fine, right? The only thing we can do again is wait for a few more player reports in the live verison of NGE. Since LucasArts has an eye on SOE's going, they might just make thing better this time. I have tried the update yesternights and I was pleased.
