Xbox live question...

Ok I never got an xbox and am thinking about getting xbox 360. My question is does it cost money for Xbox live?

And whats the difference between xbox live silver and and xbox live gold?

    xbox live gold costs money, xbox live silver is free

    and if I'm not mistaken, gold is free on certain days of the week

    i thaught u get like 500 min. free with each game(i have no idea where i heard it but i heard it from somewhere).

    Xbox live was really annoying to me because everyone just hopped from game to game. None of the games ever got a decent, skilled fanbase. Maybe it's different now...

    i heard the races games jump. i mean everytime a new one comes out.....

    i heard any of the action type games(not shooters) jump a lot

    and Halo 2 is the only constant......

    Games would become populated and then unpopulated.. You could still find people playing them though.. Think of it like a sports game. Who wants to play 2004 if 2005 is out? Sure the people who havent bought 2005 will still be playing 2004 but the majority will be playing the newest game.

    I have gotten out some of my old games that I used to play when I first got my xbox with xbox live. I went on live and I could tell the decreased population in the game but you can always find people to play with.
