Hi
I only played for about 6 weeks from launch and mostly really enjoyed it. I stopped for a number of reasons. Firstly I didn't really have the time to commit to it and found most of the people I'd made friends with were out levelling me fast. Also, I was guildless and found most pick up groups just wanted to grind xp rather than tackle quests (my main aim). Is this still the case?
The release of the expansion reminded me of some of the fun times I had and got my interest up all over again so I'm coming back. I think I will be starting again rather than carrying on with my old character (mid 20's pally). What server would you recommend? I've heard AB is the most heavily populated and some others are quite empty, any truth to this? How strict is the roleplay element enforced? It's not something I've done but I'm all for giving it a go. Are their still people joining or am I going to find the low levels really lonely?
I've also upgraded my pc a bit, do you think it will make a difference as the game was very sluggish when I played in the past. I've gone from a P4 2.4Ghz with 1Gb ddr2100 to a Athlon 64 3500+ with 1Gb ddr3200....I still only have a Radeon 9600XT though, do you think I'll see a substantial performance increase or will my graphics card hold me back?
Cheers

It was a decent game when I played it, yeh, and from what I've heard they'e mede some improvements since then. It's pretty demanding on your pc and time though.

Get new friends that dont outlevel you
The game has made really a lot improvements in the last year (i firsts tarted playing it in beta and never really left only had a few weeks in which i played less).
The Groups sitiuation for quests got much better because now most quest mobs are solo mobs and no longer require groups. For the remaining heroic quests (they are now marked as heroic in the journal too) you will still need a group, and finding groups depends a lot on your server your playtimes.. I would recommend joining a guild with players around your lvl because finding groups easy when you need them helps a lot in getting the maximum fun out of eq2.
I am from europe so i play on runnyeye and can say both european servers have a good load if you play on europen time scale (splitpaw is a bit fuller but runnyeye is ok too). I cannot comment on the US servers.
There is a constant coming and going in EQ2 and the last time i started an alt the beginners areas were not too lonely (it was not like it was at lauch but you cannot expect that after a year). The player load is now spread out very good over the lvl range from 1-60, but the qeynos side has more players than Freeport has (but on most servers both sides should be ok to play).
I would not suspect too much difference in the graphic options you can use witht he changed hardware because your GFX card will be limiting your system a lot, but zoning times and some other things might be faster. Also there have been some stability and memory use improvements over the year so it will propably run smmother than it did with nearly same settings.
Cheers for the advice. I just went to reactivate my account and to my horror discovered it was never actually deactivated and I've been charged every month for almost a year of not playing Over £100 down the drain, thatll teach me not to check my statements properly. I'm positive I cancelled my subsciption too Theres nothing I can do about it is there?

Don't think there is anything that you can do unless you have something to prove that you deactivated the account.
Thats why i allways check after unsubscribing if the account is really deactivated (and delete the credit card information from my profile if thats possible). But i had no troubles with any mmo company till now.
