Just tried SWG and the NGE on the ten day trial

Well, I just got through trying SWG for the first time since I left this past April, the day of the CU. That worked out good, as my subscription expired that exact day, so I didn't pay one red cent extra to SOE. To be honest, I have missed the game... I have missed running through Tyrena and Coronet. I have missed a lot of things about my first MMORPG. I will always have a soft spot for SWG, at least what it was, with all its flaws and blemishes. When the CU came, I left and have never regretted it.

After trying the NGE, I came away angry. Angry that a game I loved has been taken from me and morphed into such a joke. It was a total snorefest. I kept ending up in combat with multiple creatures, as they were all jumbled together, so as I shot at one, I would inadvertantly hit others. That caused me to die several times unecessarily. As I ran boring mission after boring mission on the little space station you are limited to, I wondered why in the world anyone would be convinced to buy the game after the 'ten' day trial. If this is their idea of trying to achieve what WoW did as far as a quest based system, they are insane. WoW took years to develop and it shows. This game was slapped together, and it falls so far short of that mark.

I ran across another guy who had also been a vet from pre-cu. He was asking me when we got off the space station to go down to the planet. I told him I had no idea. Then a couple minutes after our conversation, I sent him a tell asking if we ever actually got to go down to a planet. He said, of course we will be able to... we just need to level to a certain point. I then sent him another tell saying I thought they might just have us running in circles on the station without ever letting us go down to the planets. He laughed at that, and I laughed back, thiking I was just being paranoid. I played a little more tonight, and realized that I was right. I wanted to go down and cheack out Corellia on my old server to see if my house was still up, and if any of the towns I remembered were still there. But I get the message that to go down to the planet, I need to subscribe. So once again, I delete SWG from my computer.

You know, I always wanted to try Matrix Online... oops, SOE owns that, so it will never happen. I played EQ2 for a few months on the station pass... never again. Blizzard made a game and did it right. Now that I have seen a game that really works, and really gets you involved, with -by comparison- relatively few bugs, I will never subscribe to another SOE game again.

I will miss what SWG was. I am angry and saddened by what has happened. I have kept checking the boards here to get an idea of how the game I loved was going. While I am glad to hear SOE is struggling with the game, I am sad to see what a mess they have made of it.

Thanks for ruining my game, jerks.

as a vet of SWG, and a true loyalist, i am also completely disgusted by the NGE. i love how the devs at the SOE forums have been locking and deleting posts that show people true displeasure.

it's a travesty.. a complete and total travesty.

we've been betrayed... and i will never deal with SOE again. They had the best game EVER.. and they ruined it.. just because the 10 year old kids that left said it was too hard

I still find it hard to believe that even after the response they got from the  combat 'upgrade', that they ar eunwilling to fix their mistakes. Is it just arrogance? They have to realize that if they go pre-CU, they will get a bunch of people back. I would definitely go back. I have popped in on the forums here checking the state of the game because I liked it and miss it. I believe there are a bunch fo people who feel the same way. But I guess they are too prideful to do that. So instead, those fascist board minders will just delete anything negative posted about their game, and will go to any length to avoid going back to what made them successful.

All they had to do to the old system was tweak some professions, halve (perhaps more) the buffs, and a couple other small adjustments and the game would have been enjoyable, and I would still  be playing it. I personally believe buffs are what killed the game (obviously all the jedi helped it along too). It's just a shame.

they can't take it back now. have you seen how many SWG "Starer Sets" are out?

it's pathetic.. the box literally says "Easy To Play"!!!!

i wish they would just admit that it's designed for the console now
