Pre-order and get into BETA??!!

Listed on Gamestop that ETA for actual game is 3/14/04. We all know how those can change, however it is listed if you pre-order you get a bonus CD scheduled to ship on Dec 10th with BETA access!!! We shall see. Guess Im headed over to there today!

    Thats an interesting find. Sounds like beta will be starting sometime next month then (maybe?)

    Kinda scary though, they dont usualy sell preorders before beta even starts. Ballerium was considering doing that as well, it smacks of desperation - of the financial sort.

    I'd really like to beta this game but not for $50 up front. Not for a game that could potentialy vaporize (but I'm betting it will go gold).

    this thing that scares me the moust is that on there main site they have still the say anything about this. it mite just be a marketing slip up or somethign of the like ... it is seen be for that companys have put something for sale that they dont have yet and well not get.

    It looks like a aweasome game anyway. If there is no cd with it just get them on false advertising.... (maybe thats only summin here)

    Sounds like another marketing plan to me.  Just another way to get everyone to buy it first in hopes to get into beta.

    ebgames.com also had this offer not only on City Of Heroes but also on Lineage 2 "of course I pre ordered both" and I wanted to make sure so I emailed them.

    If it is a scam the bbb is going to get a nice letter from me with a copy of the email and a printscreen from the item page "which is already saved on my hd".

    Actually the devs responded on the official forum saying that the cd will NOT include any guarntee into the beta with any access.

    ebgames.com pretty much has the same thing running. Says priority beta though, so it might be a better bet. Hmm priority? Dont mind if I do! This is the first game ive been actually looking forward to for quite sometime. Alongside BFVietnam of course...

    i doubt u can pre order and get into beta

    they said somewere in the faqs on the main site that they will post the releas for the open beta testing

    but how long till it is realeased

    we might never know

    yes you can pre order to get in beta if you live in the US since none of the online retailers will ship the bonus disk befor the game if your out side the US image

    Pre-order was on the shelf at Best Buy as of Feb. 08.  Pre-order does guarantee you a spot in the beta at some point.  The CD does not have the client on it but comes with a reg code for the PlayNC.com site which I'm sure they will use for beta entry from this point.

    the thing that your thinking of is the closed beta cause the open beta hasnt started yet so u can get in beta by ordering the pre order thing online

    It's not really a special ability, just a different looking version of Sprint. All heroes have Sprint it's just that if you pre-order yours will look different.

    Yes, I am hoping CoH comes out soon so I will have something for passing the time before EQ2....There haven't been any good MMO's for awhile now :(
