I am not the biggest WoW fan but its a very well done game.  Its fun and enjoyable.  If you can ignore the immature community it is fun.  If you like solo and make alts even better.  But if you want value for your money stay far away from GW.

All very well said. But not brutal enough on the WoW side IMO. Leveling is fast in WoW, and with LITTLE high end content if you race up the lvl ladder prepare for boredom on a whole nother level. Alts in WoW even get old quick. If you have done it on Horde and done it on Alliance you are done. GW isnt even a MMORPG, maybe a 1/4 of a MMORPG.

I agree with you about the leveling in WoW it is way to fast.  If they would have taken a couple of servers and made them more hardcore where you only leveled at 10% of the current pace it would be a much better game for me.  But I disagree with you somewhat about the high end content.  What game was ever released with high end content.  EQ had 2 dragons.  Daoc didn't put in their rp system until 6 months after release.  The problem is when you release a game where leveling is to fast there is not enough time to develop high end content.  DAOCand EQ had the luxury of slow leveling to develop that content WoW did not.  But I guess I am not WoW's target audience.  It is a game aimed at casual beginner players.  For what they are trying to do they have done it very well.  But just ebcause I disagree with WoW's game design and focus does not mean I want to trash the game.  It is a very good, well designed  and fun game for what it is and the audience it is trying to reach.  Again its not my game but there is not much else out there.  Sometimes you just have enjoy games for what they are.

For hardcore players there really is not much hope.  The only game being developed that looks like it may appeal to the hardcore experienced player is Vanguard.  If that fails it could be a long wait for the hardcore player.

GW on the other hand I cannopt recomend to anyone.

Guild Wars is not a MMORPG and should really not be compared to WoW in terms of gameplay.  It's Diablo 2 with a graphical chat (towns and outposts), but hey that's not really a bad thing.  It's different enough where its still a lot of fun.

People on these forums, that bought the game thinking it would be a WoW with no monthly fee's, will probably tell you the games bad.  It's by no means a bad game, it's fairly short if your more than a casual player though.  It's the perfect game if you plan on playing casually.  The PvE is long enough to satisfy those looking for entertaining coop with other players and the PvP is more than enough to preoccupy those interested when PvE is done.  With Chapter 2 on the way in first quarter 2006, there will be more than enough to keep players entertained in the future.

To people saying that Guild Wars sucks because they played it for 2 days and they played WoW for a month.  All I have to say to that is I played WoW for 2-3 days and I was bored to tears from quest after quest of deliver this to that and kill x amount of this and bring y amount of that back to me.  However I have been playing Guild Wars casually since release and have yet to really get tired of it.  That's just my opinion though, I am sure people are capable of getting a lot more out of WoW then I did.

Put simply, GW is NOT a MMORPG and cannot really be compared to WoW.  If you want an MMORPG with a nice, open world with plenty of things to do to get to the highest level and get a lot of cool items, then WoW is probably more for you.  If you want a somewhat simple, online, short but fun RPG with a decent story and entertaining PvP (if your in a good guild) as the endgame then Guild Wars is probably more your speed.

P.S: I feel insulted when people say Guild Wars has a bad community.  I'm a part of that community and I have made many great friends and met many nice people in the game.  It's a multiplayer game, all of them will have their shares of jerks.  To label the entire GW community from word of mouth or a couple bad experiences is a slap in the face.
