My conclusion to EQ2 vs. WoW

Now, this is my PERSONAL OPINION. First I started playing EQ2, I loved it. The graphics were beautiful and looked real. I thought it was very immersive, and the lore was great. The combat felt fast, and the lands felt epic.

Then I started playing WoW when the free trial came out. I was sketchy at first because the first quest was so simple, and then as I progressed the game became fun and so I bought it. BOATS! And no loading screens. WoW just felt like it flowed better. The art style is a plus.

In conclusion I'd choose WoW.

    Well talk about beating a dead horse.In this case a decayed horse as the wow vs eq2 threads are

    1)so last year

    2)so common

    3)so boring

    4)so unoriginal

    5)no one cares

    well, maybe someone does; its always good to have new reweivs over a mmo...
    if you played wow in they earlyere versions... its a lot more fun now

    (but maybe this should have been posted inside the wow forum ::::39::)

    I think it was a good idea to post it hear, cause it allows me to say I was right when I said WoW will be more popular then EQ2 a few months before there release.  I was even flamed alot.  But I was right and thats what counts.

    Just because one is more popular than the other doesnt actually make it better.

    Did I ever say better? I am pretty sure I said more popular.  In this case however, EQ2 had some aspects of the game that worked against it.  Ideally they were good idea's, but in reality they became a nuissance and a turnoff for players.  Such as the Lock system where once you attack a monster no one else can jump in unless you give up on the monster entirely.

    Instancing in a game with a pre-made class imbalance.  Taking the multi-race politics from EQ and turning it into a 2 way battle.  Setting your graphics for the future and not looking at the now.

    Probably not cause I am a complete ass about it.

    I think a majority of the people who have tried WoW and EQ2 have preferred WoW. So I would say WoW was better than EQ2. But WoW isn't brilliant, its solid, it can be fun, but I preferred the original EQ to it.

    And i have heard the opposite with people preferring EQ2 over WoW.  So u see no one is ever going to be right, hence why the EQ2 vs WoW topics never get anywhere and is never really constructive.

    I have played both and I liked both. Neither is perfect  and each has some things better than the other. I don't see why everyone want to make it a one or the other thing. I also like DAoC and UO and played both at the same time.

    all he said was that it was more popular. nowhere in his post did he say or even imply that WoW was better. For some people it is better, for some people EQ2 is better, for some people EVE is better.

    it depends on the INDIVIDUAL. There is no reason we should be seeing posts like this.

    Why doesn't everyone who has a beef with choosing them just do like I do.  Play them both.  It's so rewarding.  I get bored with one, I switch over to the other.  And back and forth.

    The word 'tad' is an EQ1 reference used by the more advanced frogloks when referring to a younger more inexperienced of their kind.  It should not be taken offensively.  But as a cutesy sweet little fun name.

    This is what I'm going on by a lot of boards. Yeah every player is going to make his own preference of game, WoW will be too cartoony for some. But in all, most mmorpgers out of choosing between eq2 and WoW I would say the majority chose WoW. Of course, it could be different for those inexperienced to mmorpgs, and there is also a sector which plays both but in general most people prefer WoW. Yeah my evidence is subjective, but being an avid follower of a few mmorpg boards the general consensus is that.

    Ahhh, but have you considered that maybe the WoW posters are just more outspoken with their opinions?

    if other boards are like this one, the players of games other than WoW seem to be the most outspoken. for every i like wow poster here, there are 3 who hate wow.

    I doubt it.
    But since there are eq2 players here I'm not going to be rude, enjoy the game but most people didn't find eq2 very fun.

    I had this same argument with myself, and after playing both, EQ2 was my pick. To each his/her own.

    The arguing over what one was better seems rather pointless. I never see anyone say I play both but really can't decide what one I like more and will keep playing. There's alot of I tired both and picked ( what ever ). There isn't really much competition between the games because they appeal to very different types of players.  People jump ship and quit one for the other, but I'm sure if they started in the game they ended up playing they'd never have left in the first place.

    Clearly you were not here   6-12 months ago to see the daily eq2 vs wow threads that  were back to back.

    Also where is the review?

    And whats wrong with the other EQ2 vs wow threads which are exact duplicates of this post(although sometimes its EQ2 been given the thumbs up other times same as OP) that pop up on a weekly basis ?
