A recent comment by JMS indicated WB is looking into developing B5 into an MMORPG. Anyone have any more information on this?

Babylon 5 has been brought up a few times.. dont get too worked up about it. seems they bring it up every other year and it gets shot down every time. yeh it would be cool it has a great universe to build on. and I for one would like to see someone do something good with it but im not holding my breath.

"Every year or so, Warner Bros makes noises about a Babylon 5 game... and it's making them again this year," Straczynski recently claimed in an online interview. He continued, "the Babylon 5 universe is almost tailor-made for a game, especially an immersive, online experience."

From the info I'm havesting, it's gonna be based on EVE Online Style (Hot Stuff) and the fact the Star Trek Online is coming out next year they are looking at B5O as the Competition..

The Rumors are getting stronger and stronger.. All we can do is support them 8)

After the SWG mess from LucasArts and SOE, I'm very leery of any more big-name franchise MMOs from big-money corporate entities. I'd like a Star Trek or B5 MMO very much, but I doubt I'll be paying for them after the SWG debacle.

just as long as Verant or SOE doesnt do Babylon 5 or Star Trek i will give it a try.. Perpetual is doing Star Trek so theres some hope there

After giving up on SGW, I would love to play a Babylon 5 online game. There are enough races to satisfy everyone and many planets as well. Pick a side. Join the Earth Alliance or join The Shadows. Perhaps they could bring the Rangers in as a profession. By the way, anyone who has never watched Babylon 5, buy all 5 seasons on DVD. Your in for a treat!

There would be many races as there are many types, plus trade skills would be awesome as you travel around.. As for StarTrek Online, it's gonna alot bigger then most ppl think, they are introducing a Galactic Empire aka alpha delta ds9 so on. Not to mention the engine is gonna be totally new .. nothing we've seen, the images so far make it look RealLifeLike. It's definatly gonna need high end systems.. not mention 512DSL +

This would be a great game, but the series isn't even on syndication in most parts of the US (not sure about elsewhere.) So would they be able to attract more players with only its old reputation? Seems risky on their part. I bet if they got a new Bab5 tv show or movie, it would be a shoe-in for a new MMO.

I think this would really be a great game, think of the immersive universe you could be dropped into. Barring Star Wars I doubt there's any other MMO with just the sheer depth of background that Babylon 5 does. Along with the fact you have so many races to choose from (Human, Mimbari, Centauri, Narn, etc.), it would be an awesome experience. Imagine being able to go to all the homeworlds as well as outposts and the station itself, and being not only able to do EVE Online type stuff outside the stations, but Deus-Ex-esque missions inside them. It would definitely be worth checking out.
