newb questions

hi just some questions about two basic things in the game.

1) What is the beastmans seal used for?

2) How important is each point in defense in armour? I've just upgraded my armour on my monk but as of yet haven't bothered upgrading my shoes or braces on my hands as the starter ones give 1 def and the lvl 8 ones give 2 def, for the cost (about 1200 gil) is it really worth the benefit?

3) Oh and think this has been answered before but where are the pics saved to when i take them ingame?

were do you live? i see that lots of people are playing it but i did not know that ff 11 was out in the us yet

FFXI has been out in the US since October 28th.
