They are so different you shouldn't even be comparing them on the same page. If you like WoW you'll likely dislike GWs and if you love guild wars you likely of disliked WoW.

The question is, which is the train and which is the fly?
"World" of Warcraft is a huge world just like it says in the title of the game. Guild Wars is more pvp oriented game just like title says war between guilds. Play whatever you like.
Yah I agree that you cant compare guild wars and WoW they are completely separate games with completely separate game styles. But I will try to compare them based on my experiences with both games. The fallowing is my Personal Opinion. Guild wars: More pvp oriented Balanced(overall) It looks great The customer service is wonderful The events are good No raiding for loot Max level is 20(less grind) No crafting More casually oriented( you can go into to pvp and join a couple of fights even if you only have 15 min to play) Very stable gunplay (overall) Community Sucks And the best its FREE Monthly payments Only one race to choose from
World of Warcraft: Has crafting Not balanced The level 1-60 content is fun Level 60+ is more raid oriented Lots of time required to raid (less casual content after level 60) Certain or all servers are unstable Community Sucks 15$ a month It looks Cartoons The charismas and Halloween decorations are nice Faction imbalance on most servers More Races
Note: The above is my personal opinion you can disagree with me just please dont flame me.

I have both games but I prefer Guild Wars by a good margin. Once you get to the end of PVE though, you may become disenchanted (lol) with it as I did. If you enjoy the PvP aspects of games (which I do not) then GW would give much more playing time. Just as a general observation, since I havent played it very much, GW's PvP seems to be considered better than WoW's on some forums I have looked at.

I play both GW and WoW, and to me if you want a long term investment go with WoW because it held me for 9 months now but GW is the game I play to PvP. In beta GW was the best but I hate the skill unlock thing the retail version has. I play GW when I want a quick burst of fun. You can only PvP so much before it starts to bore you in GW. There are lots of comparsions (better ones) on the forums here and in the WoW forums but I just thought you would like to here my opinion. (p.s. GW has more realistic graphics )
i never played wow , so i will give my personal experience about guildwars.
im playing since 10 of may ... loving it , and when im not expecting i learn something new , i notice i need something i dont have , and i walk a zone i never did before. people say its more pvp oriented , i dont think its true , pvp is for advenced , you must learn a lot before you can go to pvp and have a decent match. there are 450 skills to unlock for all professions , becose your char have one primary and one secondary profession , and you can change your secondary in high level quests , is possible to unlock all game skills with one rpg char. im not even half of the way of having all skills , i have 1.2 million experience and there i am , almost still a noob comparing to hardcore power players. becose i have a job i dont have that much time to work for unlocking skills , most of the time i just want to have fun with some quest or mission .. or farming for that cool expencive armor , there are plenty of stuff that make you forget that skills is what you need to be really good at the game , being level 20 means so litlle. you can reach level 20 with 10% or less of all skills , and you can reach level 20 in about half of the pve content .. dont think you have finished the game when you reach level 20 , thats the start.
About cumunity , i cant talk about wow comunity cose i never been there , gw comunity as its days and its locations , all missions/quests before " hells percepice " are zones of noobs , some are really great to be with , learn and teach , some are terrible arogant , its the world we live in , i guess. International dist and highlevel quests/missions have better comunity normaly. In Pvp comunity is where you can find the most amazing team work , using voice chat programs , and organized builds .. this is where guildwars become chess , if you like mind jobs , its for you ! but also becose its war and everyone is human , there are lots of flames arrogant name calling and everything else you see in soccer games and stuff where competition is the force.

The thing is: I love both. WoW is a MMORPG, GW is something like an online-FPS, just with swords and spells instead of guns. Both rock, and both are so different they're uncomparable...

lol you dont'k know nothing about gw... this lines show this... gw is acction rpg. you like diablo? diablo is fps? guild wars and diablo is a action rpg, but gw is massive multiplayer online and diablo not.
I just like Guild Wars better. If there's one thing my Runescape days have taught it's that grinding is no fun. 20 levels of exhilerating combat and storyline is better than 60 levels of grinding. Just to me that makes it better.
we totaly dont need this war , please go to another game forum for this kind of pools , this will bring flames. i think a wow or swg as much more sence , everybody knows guildwars is not a real mmorpg , right ? guess what , we dont want it to be , its what it is , and people who love it , love it for what it is .
so please , guildwars or wow , give your personal opinion , ok , but dont make this a " my d*** is bigger thread " , this forum is completely over loaded with wow vs gw threads

FPS you no nothing about guild wars it is not a FPS.It a mmog or massive multiplayer online game an action rpg(role play game) can you understand that.Should i put in in a way so that even a kindergardner could understand cause if you think its fps(first person shooter) your compreenstion skills are very very very low. Thats my two cents
The thing i don't get is, why are these posts always in the Guild Wars section, and never in the WoW section
Anyway, Guild wars is all about endgame, they really don't care for the other levels. World of Warcraft takes much much longer to get to the end game, so has a better mid game play.

Train is WoW... long ended PvE game with some PvP options... Will take you forever (compared to guild wars) to get to "end game" lvl 1.
Plane is Guild Wars... can get to the "end game" pretty darn fast and without seeing much along the way if you don't want to.
it never cease to amuse me with these tread, but w/o a poll, lmao
i concur dude, wow is made for pve
