EQ1 for new players?

OK, I thought asking here would get a more objective response than the EQ boards.

About me....1st MMO was WOW from 1/05 to 9/05, great introduction to the genre, but got terribly boring at end-game. Moved over to EQ2, and am currently enjoying every minute of it, tons of content, good community, great game.

With the the whole station pass offer, I have given serious thought into trying out EQ1. Mainly as a point of reference, and historical background.

Questions:

1. Is it worth trying at this point in the game? Will it take forever to hit the cap(70)?
2. I read about how hard the game is, and I like a challenge, what do you feel are the biggest obstacles to overcome?
3. How does it stack up TODAY to WOW/EQ2/other MMOs you may play?

I could of posted in the newbie folder, but not a newbie yet, and would like a lot of responses.

It is most definately worth trying right now. A few months ago they had server merges which helped a lot, tutorial is great as well. It will take a while to get to 70, but I find if you don't just rush through the game than it is more fun.

Biggest obstacles to overcome is finding a good group and having time to play. Other than that, it's not extremely hard.

It has soooo much content. Seriously, I have played off and on for 3 years and have not seen half of the game yet. Graphics are actually great in my opinion and I think you will really like it if you liked EQ2 as I did not like EQ2. Go ahead and give it a try, it's really a love or hate game.
