paladin effectiveness

I just started DAoC after being burned by the NGE of star wars galaxies, and i have to say, this is exactly the game ive been looking for...i love this game !
as for my question, im a new pally..lvl 7.. and i want to know about their strenghts and weaknesses before i continue to level my toon. what is the general feelings on this class?

I haven't played alb in a long time but from what I've seen fighting against them my data here is still pretty valid:

Paladin's main strength is he is a damage soak. They can take a ton of damage but they don't deal a lot out. Not saying they're weak, but their main focus is a defensive support tank. They can protect the casters and keep a group alive very well. Matter of fact the class most LIKE a paladin is the Hibernian Warden, which fills a very similar role in RVR.

In PVE Paladin's are awesome as a support healer and damage soaker.

If you enjoy a support/secondary tank role the Paladin has a lot of versatility and, at least used to be, fairly demanded in groups.

Hope you started on a classic server I'm on Gareth myself and am a fellow NGE Refugee.... though I played DAOC both in beta and for 1.5 years after release. Then I went into the SWG Beta and left DAOC for a long time Now I'm back (Thank you, SOE, for reminding me how good DAOC is!)

Wow El, you seem really happy to be playing DAoC again, it's awesome to see after having read so many bummed out posts about SWG and EQ2 and the like.

Anyways, I'm considering giving it a shot because my experience with the game was very little and a very long time ago and your enthusiasm has sparked a bigger interest in me.

Either way, like I said, it's great to see you game-happy again, hope it stays that way.

im actually on naormal servers..lancelot and bedevere..i like the toa items and quests
