I think my very first awakening of MMO games was Dark Age of Camelot. I didn't actually play it, but I watched a friend of mine walk around town and then summon this huge beast. It was at that time taht I realized how amazing MMO's really were.
After my awakening, I searched the internet for about a year looking for one that would fit my budget and the way I play games. At that time I stumbled upon Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings. I was amazed! I bought it and commenced reading the strategy guide while it installed. Unfortunately my computer was old, and couldn't handle this game. I wept, and looked online for another MMO.
Another six months went by, and while searching I found Earth & Beyond. It was so cool! I found a demo of it, and had them send me it via the mail. When it arrived, I installed it, not knowing exactly what it was, and hoped for the best. This game was probably the best space-related MMO I have found. I played this until they shut the servers down.
When they close the servers, I had a job, and got myself a better computer. One that could handle Asheron's Call 2. I played that for about 8 months religiously. Getting bored, having a lvl 56 Tumerok, and a lvl 54 Lugian, I decided to quit, looking for yet another MMO to fill my life once again.
Everquest 2 comes along. I absolutley love that game. My mom bought it, and I had a character on her account. Of course after only lvl 18, my mom moves out of state, leaving me out on my own. I stand here today, gameless, save the little Xbox, and looking forward to my next computer. I no longer own a computer, I cant afford any more games yet. I weep in the hands of the game gods hoping for an MMO future. I am currently saving up for a Sony Vaio. I will be getting Everquest 2 shortly. I will soon become the geek so many of us ahve become.
If you have a story you would like to tell about your MMO life, I would enjoy to know that I am not the only one who has an MMO fetish.
