If SOE decide tommorow to start the game over, i mean OVER, everyone start back to ZERO with the original (release) SWG gameplay, would you come back ?
no real endgame content - GCW with huge battlefields, for example too much grind, no meaningful content (quests, for example) extreme balance issues single player game in a persistant online world (thx to totally overpowered buff and armor system) etc
I built too much in SWG.. and was involved in a great thriving community. That would be gone.
Ad I'd still be paying $OE.

For me, after this long, no.
Sorry, but after geting shafted by the first CU, which SoE claimed was "needed", only to watch them then turn around and toss it out for an even buggier system, NGE, I have no faith in this company. Been baited and switched a few too many times by now to believe a damn thing they would say.
Now if a different company picked up the origional code, and started to take care of it..........I'd be back in a heartbeat.
Oh yeah.. if it were a different company, My friends and I would go there and rebuild our community.
We accomplished so much working separately... Just think what we could do as an organized group with a common goal!
And there'd have to be JTL.

I would like to come back but a few things hold me back from doing so.
1) (most important) NO SOE
2) No Jedi ... If the game is set after the fall of the Jedi council then Jedi would not be there. Maybe the relecs and ruins of once was but no Jedi.
3) Crafting was good but became a challenge when you had to do all that mining and hunting for ore. Better if it could be a more similar way of doing it ... Like buying your materials from a larger corperation. Yes you could still go out and get your own stuff but it gives the crafter an option.
4) Fixing the broke things ASAP
5) If there is a civil war going on have sections of the planet be under the control of the factions. Once a week see what may have changed. Maybe the Imperials gained some gound on the Rebels, and the town you were in is now has an Imperial outpost in it.
Well till this happens I am sure I shall stay on COH

Ummm....
You could buy components from other players. My Armorcrafter NEVER harvested his own stuff once I got things rolling. I had 2 or three regular component suppliers and a few others I'd hit if they had a momentary lapse in stock.
Heck, for pure practice purposes I just bought stuff that people sold to the bazzar.

Yeap, when I started my Armorsmith way back in Pre-CU, thats how she started. Buying lots of 20k resources off the Bazzars.
Once I got into a Guild, I'd just let them know what I needed and they would collect it for me.
In all honisty though, a single global resource "company" would have streamlined things alot, as well as would have set an established value for each particular resource. Folks could then sell their odd lot resources to the "company" and others could have bought it in turn.
Dont know how many times I ended up with odd number lots of stuff that I no longer used. Would have been nice to turn that into quick easy credits rather than listing it on my vendor for weeks at a time waiting for it to sell.
I dont know this is kinda a hard decision. Its as if i just got out of a abusive relation ship and i was the one getting beaten. The relation ship started out wonderfull but than got bumpy and next thing ya know im lying in a puddle of mud gaged and bieng kicked...than one week later the abusive one in the relation ship shows up with flowers and wine and tries to make up for what he/she did....so its to hard of a decision for me to make at the time...just dont hit me
That is the key question but if they do nothing and as it seems very small patches and double exp
THere just seems no reason to go back. There is nada to stop them from major changes again and or pulling the plug and or not changing what is going on currently. This is different because folks did press cancle and move on.
I would gladly come back for a fresh start with just a couple stipulations mentioned above. Game can stay as is ( original ) but would like to see a different developer get the license and those ridiculous buffs need to be toned down.
No, I've become fed up with SOE. I'd rather play a game made by a company that dosen't make to major changes to the same part of the game twice in less the 10 months
There is no going back sadly. For one most of us did put a lot of time into the game building characters and cities. I spent a year and a half grinding out my jedi so I could have that advantage. My guild was doing great when the cu hit and we all quit. We had a metropolis and a master crafter for almost every class. Best armor buffs cm poisons and shipwright gear on the server. And a dozen of us or so were nearly finished with our jedi templates. To have to start all over and give all this up would never work.
Secondly, I've played swg. I've played it and played it and played it some more. My roomate did eighteen master classes before getting his jedi. I ground out a dozen classes myself. I've pvp'd in every city on every planet, in kessel and in deepspace. I've blown up more player bases than anyone I've ever heard of in the game. It was getting old when they took out tef a few months before the cu and that is almost a year ago. Kashyyykk? Mustafar ?!. Give me a break. This game was begging for new content a year ago and all they gave us was more glitches.
Of course, if I could go back to circling anchorhead looking for tef with my greater sludge panther and three stormtroopers... who knows... soe would never allow it, but an outside company with some guts
who knows... but swg as it stands today is dead... game over
I wouldn't go back, because frankly the original game wasn't any better than this. I sometimes think people forget the extreme lack of content, the static game world, etc. of those days, just because they knew a lot of people online or because they were still enchanted by the idea of a SW rpg back then.
Before the first CY, the game was in dire need of a revamp. Unfortunately, they messed things up completely with totally useless and irrational measures that didn't have any positive effect whatsoever, but did manage to gimp a large part of the playerbase. This NGE seems to be better, with a few cool new quests and a more engaging combat system. Still it's filled to the brim with bugs and gameplay is still unbalanced as hell.
And even after all these years... no high end content. Things you do just don't effect the game world evolution at all. There's quests going on where everyone "is really special", but no one actually maked a real difference.

This game is not something worth paying for. I've seen free downloadable games written in java that run better than this. The only thing I would come back to is pre-gu
SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
Assume for a second they would go back. Be it pre-CU or pre-NGE. Would i go back ? Certainly not. Most likely 6 month from now they would intruduce a NCU or something. So why bother.
No way in hell would I ever go back if the loonies at SOE were over it. I've put so much time and energy in the game for a long time just to end up with a console feel game and limited "iconic" professions that don't give the game the feel it once had in it's prior glory days.
Secondly, I've made many friends in the game that really made the game experience one of the best I've ever had bar none who are now off playing other games. Had a really great guild and felt like a real family of close friends... now the SOE divorce decree via the CU and NGE has shattered us.
Thirdly, I believe that my experience with SOE has cause me to mature in my faith of gaming companies who DO value their subscriber base ideas and interests... I could never put faith in another SOE product ever again.
Playing SWG was a love hate relationship at times... love the game and the players, but hate the incompetent baffoons managing it.

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
If they re-released the original code
without the god buffs
without jedi...
with JTL?
Is that the question?
If they did that then yes, I'd consider going back. But only if the entire current MANAGEMENT team got canned and new management was brought in.

I'd be in for sure.
-Bring down buffs bit
-less jedis
-fix all the broken items and mods
-more armor types, comp was the answer to everything
-take those anti-decay kits away forever, economy killers
Almost forgot, no more afk playing, and they'd have to do something about camping named mobs too.

As a SOE product I think I will pass.
I would love to go back to a pre NGE, or pre CU.
If I can keep all the stuff I have spent two years building up on three toons. Thats three account all three toons on ShadowFire.

yes but instead of having jedi content we should have other force skills that would give as skills according to OUR choice and not sony's choice
