I call pure BS..
There has been beta spots like this on fileplanet from much more popular games that took at least 24 hours or longer to fill up. How does anyone know that these 10k spots were actually given out when its all controlled in-house? For all anyone knows they could of just let in 500 people.. Why wasn't the download put up on fileplanet so a third party could actually record the # of downloads?
It seems like everything this company does is controlled by themselves and no outside source has ever been given access to anytning. f'en scammers.

You might be right.
Can a web site take 10,000 hits in 2 minutes for registration ? Given the 20 hours it took last week to hand out 18,881 accounts ...? There was NO REASON to shut down your message boards if you could process 10,000 accounts in 80 seconds, then you could easily process 10,000 accounts with your message boards active in about 2-3 hours...!
Why shut down your web-site... why belay the game 5 days, and why not have told your community (paid pioneer accounts) that the game will not be availbale on the 8th, but on the 13th ...?
Piss poor buisiness practices ...!!!!

First of all, all the content had to be removed in order to avoid the problems that arised during the Pioneer pre-order offer, where access to the site got almost impossible. The forums were a big part of this traffic.
Secondly, it is a hyped game. It's on the Most Anticipated List in mmorpg.com's front page and MMOG players who seek new games read that list. Furthermore, the SWG "exiles" shows a mass movement towards Dark and Light, due to its resemblances to some aspects of the old SWG gameplay.
The most ridiculous rumour is that of chinese farmers getting all the keys with scripts. Please, do show me a logical reason why a farming company would need 10.000 keys to farm gold, while they essentially reduce their initial target group to only 8881 people. At most, they'd need a few dozen keys.
Finally, it makes no sense to lie about it. Even if it took a whole day, heck even two days, to give 10k keys, it would still be very good publicity.
EDIT: Forgot to add that it also makes no sense to do a scripted registration for a large number of accounts. Selling multiple accounts on auctioning sites would cause lots of attention, therefore NPCube's attention and would be promptly removed. Not to mention that it would have futher legal consequences, as you re-sell a service for a high price while it is normally offered free of charge.
Currently playing:
* City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
* City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.

First off, I AM a Pioneer and waited threw the delays and timed out pages Nov 24th. NPcube was offering 18,881 accounts that day and it took some 20 hours to go threw them. Even with all the confusion and congestions the people of Dark & Light were NOT seperated from their community.
NP3 has chosen to disconnect themselves from the community in hopes of speeding up the process..? I highly doubt the 10,000 accounts would've taken more thna a few hours with the message boards up... or even if it would've been slowed down that much at all. 20k people already got in 2 weeks ago... so thats 20,000 less hits per minute than the Thanksgiving day fiasco.
Secondly, NP3 had ample time to "beef" up their netowrk code or even servers to handle the onslaught.
Thirdly, (my point) all 10,000 accounts went in under 80 seconds ...! If their servers are that damn fast, then why are we here at MMORPG.com disconnected from our community and not at Dark & Lights message boards..? If the servers can handle 10,000 registration in 80 seconds, then their cluster could handle leaving the message boards up during that process too.
