I'm a bit upset with this entire process.
I've been a fan of DnL for a few years now, however, I passed on the DnL pre-order. 60 bucks was a bit to steep to pay, IMHO. Especially when a company has a 3 year track record of making promises & announcements, then cancelling, then making more...etc. That's their problem, though, not mine.
Also, I didn't like the fact that if you go reserve a boxed game at a store you only have to pay 5-10 dollars to reserve a copy, then pay the rest when you pick it up. Or they mark your account, then charge it when the game actually comes out. Whatever the case, the DnL pre-order came off a bit too fishy for me. I don't like it when they charge you 60 bucks up front 2 weeks before the open-beta comes out. Others didn't feel that way, but I did. Sue me?
That being said, I was looking forward to the SoG free registration. IMHO, it gives NPcube a chance (for once) to showcase some of the things they have been hyping for years. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a key. At 17:30 GMT I set up my account screen and waited. I wasn't about to get lost in the hassles that occured during the pre-order. I waited until 18:00 GMT, pressed the execute and got the screen that said, "You must wait until 18:00GMT...blah, blah, blah..."
So, I tried again. I literally pressed back on my browser to reach the login screen, entered my info again and by the time I pressed ok all accounts were taken? wtf.... In the span of 20 seconds all 10,000 gone?
I feel like I have wasted mental energy and time on this product and I'm begining to ask: "why?" I'm used to the Sony's and Square's of the world screwing me over...I just didn't expect it from this project too.
Am I wrong?

This would be a terrible scam, seriously. In today's age of fraud protection, etc. especially here in the U.S. there is no way we wouldnt get refunded our money if we fail to recieve said product. So they aren't running a scam, bad business ethics maybe, but not a scam. I am as upset as the rest of the population who has a key but can't download.
We are owed an explanation, how ever brief. To ignore this situation would be suicide for NPcube. They are in jepordy of losing a huge chunk of thier fan base. To post-pone a brief explanation on thier web-site or even a quick e-mail to all registered users is letting an already heated pot begin to boil over. Tell us something.
I am not talking about scammed out of $ , I am talking about them faking giving out 10k keys in 80 seconds flat. DnL is no where remotely near that popular.
A few days ago I posted a message on the Wow forums about DnL and if anyone knows about it or are going to be in the SoG thing. Not one person replied..
I'm with you on this one. This game has about erked me to the point where I dont even want to play it... Even if it is a the best MMO ever? Funny been trying for three years ansd still cant get into the game lol.
As for the scamming, if they would have just opened the doors on SoG instead of making a limit you probablly would have less than 10K of players. Since they limited it ppl grabed multiple accounts and I hear of ppl ebaying these keys.
Here's an explination...
If you were on mIRC, you got an account.... not only one, but many. Now ebay is being swamped with them. The admin in mIRC gave out the info to getting an account early, Letting the truthful fans (ones sitting on register page, fervently refreshing) left to cry until the next wave or until DnL comes out in spring.
<< Claps for the poor job by DnL>>
Not only will they have alot of angry fans that wasted their enitre day from work/class ect, just to save their spot, but will also have very little free accounts actually in game because of the incident in mIRC. Wake up DnL, those accounts are being sold, and not getting to your fans.
If you Believe all of this is a load of bs, post what you feel inside forums all of the net. They cannot avoid it from everybody.
"Since they limited it ppl grabed multiple accounts and I hear of ppl ebaying these keys."
theres only TWO keys on sale on ebay for DnL.

one for $500.00 and one for $17.00 and no one bid on either. If it's so popular as it would seem than why isn't there TONS of these keys floating around on ebay. Surely if 18,000+ people have access to the game than there would be loads of these things being sold on ebay.
If you have not gotten into this pre-release hysteria, you may -- in the long run -- be one of the lucky ones.
After all, it's not possible for this game to suck ... right?
I mean, could 18,881 people who have never played the game be wrong?
*pause*
Well?
Could they?

yes they were gone in less than 40secs, i have one.
I really don't understand how... I sat there spamming the registration and was unable to get one.
Try 1: "You are unable to register for SoG until 18:00GMT"
few seconds later (back arrow...re-enter data)
Try 2: "We're sorry! SoG is teh full!"
It's because of people that had 5+ windows open, prefilled out and entered them all at the same time. It's because AD didn't block by IP address like we told them they had to. It's because (and this is nothing more than wild rumormongering) a large block of keys were reserves for Snailgames for the 20 Chinese Guilds coming over It's because they needed an excuse to keep the webserver offline for a day as damage control (why can't I download today, you said multiple times I could!) and free hype (well, if 10,000 keys were gone in 1 minute this game must rock!).
But mostly because.. they know we'll take it and ask for more.
