Its not even worth while buying gold in WoW, you can get it yourself fast enough. Vanguard will be a goldmine for these people though.

reread title. 40-50% of mmo players, not 40-50% of WoW players.

that means 40-50% of every mmo, not each one.

i doubt its that high too. thats seems like an excessive amount

The OP, Snazzy, named his post incorrectly. Then, because some folks here can't read anything longer than a fortune cookie without suffering a nervous breakdown, they assumed the topic was an accurate quotation from the NYT article which is entitled Ogre to Slay? Outsource It to Chinese. In this article, a gold farmer boss says:

    • "It's unimaginable how big this is," says Chen Yu, 27, who employs 20 full-time gamers here in Fuzhou. "They say that in some of these popular games, 40 or 50 percent of the players are actually Chinese farmers."

see this .....okay this is some guy who said this okay lets get this straight. Now if we listened to everything some guy says we'd still be beliving the earth is flat. i bet there are gold sellers but 40 or 50 % is an exageration clearly you didnt read the article bud.

Nice post. Anyone who plays MMOs and is actually aware of what is going on knows this has been Standard Operating Procedure for years. I have read many articles and seen pictures of the large rooms used in the Chinese gold farming factories many times in the past 4 years. If you know anyone who speaks Chinese or has spent years in china you would not find this new at all.  I find WOW to be especially bad, and especially find it funny that although WOW claims it breaks the EULA that they still allow them to Spam me in game with the in game mail system.

Below is a post of the number WOW gold farmers items for sale on EBay at 6:30am ET Staurday 12-10-2005. Notice there are only 11,211 of them this morning. Some times there are over 12,000 when I check. This is a game where it is allegedly not legal to sell items or gold according to Blizzard. How big would the listings be if Blizzard said it was legal? lol.
