it would be pointless to put an MMORPG on a console that was already on a computer. too much competition, realistically the only MMORPGs for consoles would have to be soley for that console only, and no computer either.

WOW on Xbox LMFAO. Will never happen. Infact there will never be a MMORPG on any console for that matter and even if it did it would be hell to play on. How would you comunicate with anyone. There it no keyboard on the console. If there was a keyboard it might as well be a PC. Not to mention the gameplay would suck. There are too many options as in thangs to click on. Inless you make the directional pad a mouse and that is slow and hard to control.
Plain and simple: There are to many options in a PC MMORPG for the console gaming systems to handle.
The Xbox 360 has usb ports which would allow it to have usb keyboards attached. Not everyone has the space for a personal computer or the money. $400 for a console that has very nice hardware + the cost of the keyboard is very reasonable. Plus, it will work with HDTV's.

Still a joke.
1: 400 + usb keyboard Plus nic card so you can use the internet. With all this cost you could have just got a PC from Dell, HP, Gateway ect. that could handle the game. Not to mention if you got the money for a HDTV and Xbox 360 you got the money for a computer.
2: Yes new Consoles had a HD (harddrive) built in ,but MMORPG's have many updates to them witch means you would have to somhow install the software into the console also using alot of space. Most consoles are not made for this. Console games are ment to be played from set dirctions of programing on the disk or cartrige.
3: Say you could do number 2 and install the game on the HD and update it (HD space not being an issue) This would mean that the game company would have to program two games one for the console and one for the PC. This would increase cost by almost double. Most gaming companies look at the bottom line and making a MMORPG to work for both PC and console would cost more money then they would most likly want to put out.
I could think of many more things that do not make this a workable idea, but that is just my thoughts abuot the issue.
Note: The only way I could really see this happening is if there were no updates to the game and it was played by console and PC as is.
SWG will be on a console system way before any other current mmorpg hits a console.

Current conso;es support USB keyboards and or mouse. And it has already been done. FFXI is out on PS2. Currently there is 2 MMORPG in development for the Next Gen consoles.
WoW on XBOX? not that i know. Would it be possible? Yes. Will it happned? Depends on how greedy Blizzard is. To finish up i would not be surprised if in the next few years we see the The MMORPG market switch their attnetion to the console side. After all PC games are developed around the next gen of videocards or the fast changing PC hardware. while in the console side games are optmized to run in the console. Making the game look and feel better.

BS! this post just shows your know how of online gaming, as someone said, FFXI is coming on 360, and im really happy about this as im a FFXI gamer (Also play wow). Also, there is no reason wow couldnt come out on a console, ffxi and eq are on ps2. Dont matter about your comp specs, least you know your console could run the game and run it well or they wouldnt release it. Every console that can go online can use mouse and keyboard.

Never on a console huh? We'll ps2 already has two - EQOA and FFXi, and now Xbox 360 has FFXI as well, with more on they way, and then ps3 - they have 2 otw as well.
And how to communicate - yeah , they sell keyboards for these, any usb works, not to mention the mic on 360 that you can use in FFXI.

its funny how all you guys swear it would never possibly work. well it already has. although yes some things were limited i knows LOTS of people that got ffxi for their ps2's and loved it. also like some of you others have said, the 360 is much more affordable, and gaming wise almost as powerful as many computers out there.so if they did it right it would work easily, and they could catch another segment of the market,(consoles) which is their ultimate goal
They never announced that they were putting WoW on the 360 but I remember reading somewhere that one of the big wigs at Microsoft want to get WoW on the console and that they were contacting Blizzard about it.
Every MMORPG on consoles right now were created specifically for consoles with PC as an afterthought. Mainly because of the interface. It is hard for me to picture WoW on the Xbox because of the fairly small UI compared to FFXI, all of the text in the game will need to be revamped to be read on a TV. (most TVs have a VERY small resolution)
As far as controlling the game, not hard to do. Anyone here have the import Gamecube keyboard/controller combo? That thing is nice, although a little small for western hands, it's very easy to go fluidly between moving and typing in a game (made for phantasy star online). If it is setup well, it would be just as easy to move around and PvP as it is on the PC.
To imply that it will never happen is a blind attempt at wishful thinking. There will be MMO's on consoles and further more you say control will be a problem, however I belive control within the game will be increased. Of course, keyboards of some sort would be needed, but this systems are made specifically for gaming so no doubt in my mind that a controller would be made to allow the versatility in CPU games. However, WOW sucks and I would hate to see it on xbox, plus this is BS. Put a pvp game like darkfall (/w revamped graphics please) and that would be kicken. Take for example elder scrolls ... could be MMO, but company would have made it an afterthought. However, I won't be surprised when the gaming market finds a way to bridge the gap between consoles and CPU's.
Well also u must not have heard that Mictosoft bought the rights to the Marvel Universe to produce a MMORPG for the Xbox 360.
As for upgrading your Xbox360, bigger HD's will be available in the future. So updating games and sucj is no problem. Neither will be adding keyboard and mouse. The new consoles are versatile machines.
As for console MMO's, Phantasy Star was the first and it was on the Dreamcast.
I completely agree a console MMORPG would be way to difficult to design for a controller. There are not enough buttons on a controller to even be able to fight.
i wouldn't even worry about the 360 its going to bomb due to it not being budget friendly and most of us can't afford a 600$ system and 60$ video games
