Eh I deleted those files and get in, but I keep getting disconnected, is that just from the masses of people trying to log in?

    My opinion matters to everyone...

Deleting the dnl.ini file is not a hoax suggestion but does indeed fix the problem. It is also probably due to a sound card setting error in the dnl.ini file you get in the bittorent file you downloaded. Running Launcher will recreate a new dnl.ini file if it does not find one and initialises its contents to default settings. If your still paranoid, simply move the dnl.ini file out of the SOG folder instead of deleting it. That way you can safely copy it back.

If you can't see a file called dnl.ini it's because of your folder settings. Select Tools from your folder window menu, select Folder Options, then click on the View tab. Now uncheck Hide Extensions for known file types and you will see the full filename for all files.

Oh and if you do get disconnected straight away, it may be because you are not a Pioneer account holder. If you're not you can only log in tomorrow (hopefully) :)

Nope, I had it set to show all folders, and there's still no dnl.ini.

    EDIT: It works now, hmmmm.

Yeah, deleting the .ini and .cfg files worked.  Now I get sound when the splash screen starts and I no longer get the C++ runtime error, but it says the game server isn't up.  I'm assuming that it won't be up for a couple days because the game is only playable each week from Thursday 1pm UTC until Tuesday 6am UTC.  Interesting how the non-pioneers acquired access at precisely the END of the playable time period... devs, can I have some of those drugs??

One thing I did notice when looking in the .ini file before deleting, it was setup for Environmental Audio and some other settings that I didn't have.  So, the default audio settings will crash your game if you don't have the hardware to support it.  Delete the .ini and .cfg files like they suggested and it will get rid of the Runtime error.

It appears that DnL is going to be a game that requires experienced users who know how to deal with file manipulation.  Not that I have a problem with that - it means that the game will have a good concentration of people who know what they are doing in-game, hopefully.
