Game Not Loading

GaliasGalias Lord of the Rings Online CorrespondentMember Posts: 70

Okay guys,

I've tried everything here...I've reinstalled the game...I've deleted the dnl.cfg files. I've never found any dnl.ini files, so nothing to delete there. I've tried running the game in different resolutions, as well as different "engines" whatever that means...still nothing. Of course, I don't get a response from DnL folks.

First off, can someone tell me how to join the DnL IRC channel?

Also, can anybody give me anything I can try to get this game working???

Thanks,
-G

im not sure what your error is, if its runtime error...try deleting dnlg.exe and the dnl.ini (its in there, looks like a notepad with a cog in front of it, and says dnl under it) then do a full integrity check. it still wont let you in the game though, the login in servers are down. that will fix your error though (if its the one i had).

Just deleting DnL.ini file worked for me. At least I can get as far as the server down screen now image

Deleted the .exe file and the .ini file (which is a Configuration File or .cfg on my machine)...now re-running integrity check to see about getting in...will let you know....

Nope...same problem. The game starts to load, but only in the taskbar...I hear the opening music for what seems like 3-4 seconds, then the music stops, the game never loads, and I have to force-quit the game.

    Any other suggestions?

It's not the .cfg file you need to delete, it is specifically the dnl.ini. Do a search for it on your machine. It should be there.

Delete dnl.cfg and dnl.ini (.ini has no extension for the icon...just says dnl) and the run a full scan again. After that it might say you need an Indeo codec. Was posted yesterday and worked for me.
  • ShinkoShinko Member Posts: 14

    I have
    -reinstalled the game
    -installed the indeo codecs
-deleted the ini, cfg, AND exe files
    -ran the full integrity check
-tried all the engine modes and lighting settings
-wrote to the DnL support team TWICE yesterday, the first of which was about 21 hours ago

and I still get an error on the second screen saying "DnLg.exe has encountered a problem and must close." It's not a "server is down" error, it's not a runtime or login error, it's not a codec error. I tried launching the game and got this same error many, many times through out the day yesterday, including when the launcher said the server was up. I STILL have not heard from the DnL team.

Please stop shouting about the ini file deletion fixing all the problems because it DOES NOT.

I had the same problem. I did remove the ini file yesterday. Usually this only happens when I don't check the ignore full integrity check.  The other times it happened to me is when I switch windows.  Try checking the ignore integrity check box and advoid openning any new windows at least until you et all the way through to the char select screen.  This is what works for me.

Deleting the DnLg.ini did it for me though :)
But i still getting the error : Server is down.
Cant they just make a page in which it says if and which servers are up or down, that would be good to have i think.

this was a reply from DnL team image hope it helps

     Hello,

    Thanks for your email.
If you encounter this Runtime error, please delete the files called dnl.ini and dnl.cfg, then from the launcher, do a full integrity check in order to download this file again.

    Hope this helps!

That's great and all... for those of us with the runtime error. I wish they'd reply to me about my DnLg.exe error. ;(

Thanks to the SOG. DnL is going to be a new running joke around all the game forums.

Considering only a handful of people can actually get on and play. I think you give people too much credit. Most of the Settlers have probably already uninstalled it. While considering if they want to put their free key up on Ebay.

By time they do get SOG working. (Server stability wise) I don't think anyone will honestly care anymore. Quite a few games will be hitting beta just before christmas with others just after. I think they just honestly shot themselves in the foot.

I am having the same problem on my sons PC. I have tried the same things and still get the DnLg.exe has encountered a problem.

My PC is having an even stranger problem, I login fine and get the splash screens but when the next screen comes up (I guess it's the character selection screen) I get a blank display, I know there is something there since as I move the cursor around it changes, if I hit the space bar or the Esc key, the game exits to the desktop. :(

Ah! :) Found out what my particular problem was. I installed a 2nd video card to my PC, and forgot to disable the 1st one, so it was trying to play the game in dual mode, with the screen on the 1st monitor (which wasn't plugged in). Anyway, long story short, I disabled the 1st video card and the game loaded fine...

Except for the fact that I got a "Server Down" message and now I'm sad. :( I thought pioneers got in like as of yesterday or something.
