The biggest load of rubbish I have everseen

Even though the current game is a free version of DNL it is utter trash. The gamplay, combat system and overall feel is very rigid and dull. It seems the only thing the creators concentrated on was how big they could make the environment, ignoring any other factors of gameplay.

I am very dissapointed with this game and the fact that it took 4 years to create is a total joke. Many people will try to defend the game but that is mostly because they got sucked into paying 60 dollars and are to proud to admit that the game is nowhere close to their expectations.

Games that Dark and Light is similar to is Anarchy Online and RF online.

This game reaches nowhere near the likes of Lineage 2, Myth of Soma or WoW.

Its because they are a small team. For example look @ liveforspeed.com they are a small team and ALSO worked on their game for at least twice as long as the "normal" time. But they game they have finsished with is the best PC racing game out bar none. THey only have 3 guys. Though this is a different genre means that it will take them longer to squash bugs, take them longer to do anything. BUT the end product is what THEY want which means its better than any BIG mmo, since it wasnt rushed AT ALL. ::::31::

    Thanks for the excellent info!

If you can recall, Wow had SERIOUS logon troubles at launch too...I remember it lasted several weeks in the states...and that was on SEVERAL servers. Complaining on this when it is the first real stress-test of their servers is pretty lame, and it is FREE to. Wow isn't.

The gameplay however, I can't comment on as I haven't played SoG. But I think it was a bad move to release a "beta" version to the people and pretend it is an actual game. They should have ignoooored the whiners that wanted to play it, and release the game when it was finished...maybe they have financial problems? Hope not.

I'm still looking forward to the real release. And thank god that they try to make games that ARE NOT like Wow (crap), Lineage 2 (crapcrap) and SWG (crappcrappcarpppppp...die)

My concern is not about the login server failures or the the delays and other bugs, this is a familar sight with all MMORPGs at the start of their life.

My concerns of with the actual gameplay which is rigid and unresponsive. The weapon, armor and player models look like cardboard cutouts.  Whilst you may complain about Lineage 2, no one can deny the fact that the combat system and models were very smooth and made that game very playable. The combat system was responsive and gave a player a real sense of being in the world. The GFX were dream like and unrivaled by anything I have seen so far.

I dont want to get into an arguement about which game is better etc etc as many people enjoy different types of playing styles. My only point here is that I find it very hard to imagine what a team of developers have been doing for 4 years in order to come up with such an unplayable game as SOG aka DNL (as not much will change by April if it hasnt in 4 years already).

If you like Anarchy Online then DNL will be all you hoped it could be, only this game will charge you to play.

SO TRUE i hate how lower lvls can easily take on a higher simply by use Health potion that heal for 200 hp almost like a complete heal, which infact using a potion is WAY faster then casting a spell that only heals for half if even  and there are so called RARE potion that heal for 1000 hp and 2000 hp sadly if you keep killing for 5 mins or so one will drop. This game makes no Sense!!

Guess My thought is If it took them 4 to 5 year for this beta crap WHAT MAKES YOU THINK they'll HAVE A FINISHED GAME IN 6 months?????

I don't GIVE A %#*@ is SOG is not DNL !!!! SOG is whats to come from DNL its giving you a sneak peak at The real thing and let me tell you NOt worth 60 bucks

THIS GAME NEEDS ALOT OF WORK!! maybe in 5 years it will be ready.

I paid my 60 bucks like so many other pioneers. I neither going to defend it, nor flame it to hell because I got suckered out of my 60 bucks. I considered it a gamble when I bought the pioneer key. Really no different from dropping the money on the blackjack table in the nearest casino. My price? The MMORPG to rule them all. Bad odds I know, but the MMORPG genre is getting quite stale and really needs something ground shaking IMHO. I'm willing to support that, even if most of the attempts fail.

Is it rubbish? Well, I certainly wasn't impressed with what I saw. I mean, stuff like part of the UI still being in French and all puts a bad taste in my mouth. I expected thing to be a little more polished than that. It sorta makes me wonder if they're handling their code in the same way, parts of it half done and messy. Graphics looked dated, UI was confusing, lag was everywhere and I couldn't even find a mob to kill. Flying my dragon was loads of fun though and despite a couple of bugs, it worked well. That at least tells me that there's hope and with release being months into the future, it could still work out.

I am however, concerned that the game will ultimately fail. It's a -lot- of stuff that they have to polish off and SoG is only a fraction of the features scheduled for DnL next year. I fear it's gonna be like so many other MMORPGs where they'll have to pull a lot of features originally intended for release with the promise of adding them later. Problem is, will the features being present at release be good enough and bug free enough for the game to prosper? It seems to me that once an MMORPG has received a bad reputation, it's very hard to turn things around. DnL is already starting to get that bad reputation.

Oh well... maybe I should play blackjack or poker instead ::::39::

I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

    1. Which part of my above statement was challenging for you to understand?

    2. Being rude is not a respectful way to challenge someone's opinion or to back up your opinion of a game.

LOL Dnl had plenty on time to prepare THE outstanding amounts of delays is a rather oblivious. Funny how the only GOOD thing about the POS is the dam content hmm that about the only big thing they got going for them my friend. AO who gives a %$#@ about the game...sure they had bug problems but SOG have allot worst problems like actually being able to play and logg in to the dam thing

Please, you can't compare a game at release when hundreds of thousands of players are trying to logon at once, to a small scale stress test (basically what I believe SoG is).  SoG couldn't even handle the first 8881 players, probably less than half of which were trying to get in game at any given time.
