Had they been smart they would have fixed the original game before even considering expansions. Great stuff. But now that you've been brought back into the SOE fold you sound like a fanboi. And my opinion stands there as well. Whoever decided this was a good idea to screw the veterans over needs to be handed his pink slip, and paddled by every programmer on the way out the door.

But the game itself...it's not that bad. And it's improving.

Hey man if you don't hate SOE like us Wepps, you're out of the gang! image
Sorry J, but this publish seems to have some really good fixes and additions. Give credit where credit is due.

Oh don't worry they will get every bit of credit for more lack of testing and their patches and fixes actually being more bugs and not working when they publish it to the playerbase.

First of all, those who said there is too much running around for no reason is wrong.  In a change 2 weeks ago, moving in combat got a benefit of 50% chance to get missed, so if you are standing still, you are asking for 100% hit rate on you.

Second, that video does not look 'Star Warsy' to some because that one group had 5 out of 6 members being medics and the current cloud animation for their aoe disease is horrible.  Of course the difference between this video and pre-NGE is the lack of Jedi and melee, which for some reason some people feel is more 'star-warsy'.  Personally I don't think it looked all that horrible and thankfully all the IMPs wore their Scout Trooper armor instead of composite (pre-CU1), so it did look slightly more 'star warsy' from that perspective.  They really need to change that disease cloud to something that has a decent animation.

All in all, SWG is at the point right now where it should have been when NGE was released.  There are still bugs and issues, but at least most of the combat classes are functioning.  Honestly, once I was able to put the past 2 years of SWG play behind me and look at NGE as essentially a new game I can live with it a little better.

It still has a long way to go before it is remotely considered anything other than mediocre.

Some high end GCW content, better animations and generally something to DO at higher levels, i might give swg a go again.

Saying the game is "not that bad" is like pulling the rug out from under you. You said before that if the original game had been finished it would have been ideal. Saying that the new game is not bad gives justification for SOE/LA behavior. All the content they've added, the Star Warsy intro they've created could all have been done in the old system. When you take a game that had so much variety and uniqness and eliminate that how can you have a game that isn't bad?

For all you fanboi's who like the NGE good for you. I'm sorry to say you're in the minority as far as the non-10/15 year old demographic is concerned. The NGE reminds me of the Pacer. Some of you may be old enough to remember that car. Back in 1975 AMC (American Motor Co.) made a car called the Pacer. It was butt ugly or fugly if you'd like. It wasn't appealing to the majority of car buyers. As a result it didn't last long and died out a few short years later. But you know what?  Some people actually bought a Pacer. Imagine that. Does that mean the rest of us were wrong about the Pacer? Hell NO! That car was damn ugly. Most of us would rather drive a Mustang or even a Oldsmobile Cutlass than drive that crap car. So you fanboi's out there, enjoy your Pacer.

I remeber that piece of crap car. I would laugh at them while I drove by in my gremlin.

Wouldn't the Pinto be a better car analogy. SWG could experience a final explosion any time now.

Actually the Pinto sold pretty well and had a good run before the explosive issue was discovered.
