At first I was going to attempt a civil explanation on why game developers often have more than one game in the pipe.  But after looking at your profile, seeing the name you chose for your email, I decided any bit of civility would be lost on an idiot like yourself.

    Please take your negativity elsewhere.

I think I felt my IQ level drop a few points after reading Kutuup's post. image No Kutuup this game will not be for you. Go back to your Counterstrike and Diddy Kong Racing. Leave this one for us intellectual types.

Well sometimes game makers decide to make new games even if they have already released games before. Sometimes game makers even decide to make more then one game at a time now if while making these games others fail whoopty doo so long as they still have money they'll keep going.

This guy is just trying to get a rise out of people.  I think Slaggg and Darktania summed it up.  We're really just letting him waste our time (and brain cells).  I feel dumber just reading this topic.

Not the smartest bulb in the bunch, for sure, but one thing I did notice is the news of turbine hiring.

Of course this is a very normal phase.. in game support and such, but click on the link of people they are looking to hire.. Main game engine engineer? support engineer? networking admin, and multiple graphics artists(ok.. companies always looking for them so not so bad..) Even looking for a director of HR and other HR managers...

Just kind of odd they are looking for so many "key" people. Wondering what happened.. were the present engineers switched to a different project? did they quit? were they fired?

    Who knows, just an observation...

Please don't scare me with this news!  I trully hope Turbine did not bite off more than they can chew.  I really want to see this game come to fruition.  And sometimes with key changes in employment come key changes in gameplay.  It will be interesting to see if that will happen.

I have no problem with Turbine. Just because they failed at making an AC sequel doesnt mean they sucks.   I would be more woried if it was SOE.

Just because Turbine is hiring for various positions doesn't mean any game they have in development is foundering.  Companies often create new divisions, for various reasons.  Perhaps Turbine is in the very very early stages of developing a new MMO, one which they won't talk about for another year or so.  In order to stay in business, they've got to keep moving forward.

This guy is right to worry about the future of LOR online.
I played AC1 from the beta (then moved to eq, more interesting to quit later, damn soe). Good game but more like a niche game.
I've also played AC2, now gone.
I did the stress test for D&D online, and could not bear to play this crap more than couple hours.
Now to say the truth I'm starting to wonder if I'm right to place my hopes in this game.

Turbine desperately need to go bankrupt.

That gang of incompetant designers really need to get different jobs now.

Im pretty sad to see Turbine developing this game, seems DDO will be another failure from reading lots of the comments after NDA removal.

Anyway here´s intresting thread from the beta forums where they asked how many of the beta testers are gonna buy DDO. Should especially read the comments from both camps.

Let's just hope this doesnt turn out the way Star wars with Soe did..Wish Blizzard would have created this game, looking at some screenshots and graphics are already looking old.........just pray......

    Couple of interesting comments there.

I do find it intriguing that people would compare a game that hasn't even been released in Beta to another game by the same developers.  DDO and LOTRO are two vastly different styles of MMO.  DDO was made to represent the classic P & P RP games, which were heavily group and dungeon oriented, hence the mostly instanced world of DDO.  LOTRO is based on a huge world, which by all Dev accounts will be wide open and very explorable.  Those are the two biggest differences.

The Engine in use has been used before, sure.  And though the Dev's have stated that this incarnation of the engine is heavily optimized and 'upgraded', we'll just have to see through game-play how the engine really works, till then how can anyone say whether it sucks or rocks.

And I shudder to think what Blizzard would have done with LOTRO.

I agree with you completely slaggg. DDO is a completely different style of MMO. Most of the bad comments about DDO come from the fact that its heavily instanced. And the fact that Turbine failed AC2 just means that they know how not to do a game nowimage

I've been a part of the community from aug '04 when the game was still called MEO.. I've been through the drought of information and changes of the game. One of the best things Lotro has is its community. If you have a community of 100k user even long before beta is even in sight that is a good sign I think.

I still believe in the game which was known as Middle Earth Online althouhg turbine made some changes that have resulted in more instances most of the world will be open and explorable. I hope that the seemingly negative attention of DDO isn't doing any damage to Lotro because I've been ready to life in middle earth for a year now ;)..

Just read there will be no 1st person mode.

This obviously isn't the game for me at all (and many others). Vanguard will be out later this year though ;)

Just because a topic is lost, doesnt mean it cant be found. If you cant handle a gome, dont play, and dont dis. This is the way of life, live learn enjoy, and play LotRO. I may not be very experianced at writing posts, but i have played games more than i have been to school. The games are what teach us, not some retarded teacher that calls you a stupid monkey child!!!image I play games a lot, i like books, and i love Lord of the Rings, so im bound to love this game.
  • SlagggSlaggg Member Posts: 221

Yeah, lets please keep the thread on topic.  There is a DDO and Vanguard forum, use them to your advantage. image

Preach on. SOE ruined the best two games I ever subscribed to. Personally, I think LOTR will do nicely for my wife and I.
