Hello everyone, I'm interested in getting this game, and I was wanting to ask a few questions about it.
1. How is the learning curve for newbies such as me?
2. How is the pace of the game, like leveling?
3. What kind of ship classes are available to players?
4. Now so I don't bug you with a large amount of questions, can you Kamikaze? I ask this because if I'm going down i want to try to take the other guy with me ::40

1) very steep - some refer to it as a brick wall learning curve... There is a LOT of information dumped on you very quickly. Whats worse, once you finish the tutorial you are left to your own devices.
2) Pace is generally quite slow and leasurely. Combat PvP can be very very fast (over in seconds)
3) Lots of ship classes - smallest to biggest - shuttle, frigate, destroyer, cruiser, industrial, battlecruiser, battleship, freighter, dreadnaught.
There are also tech 2 (uber) versions of a lot of those ships. There are 4 main races which specialise in different things. Minmatar - projectile/speed. Caldari - Missiles/Shields, Gallente - Blasters/Drones. Amarr - Lasers/Armour.
Any ship can be setup to be a Damage Dealer, Tank, or something in between, but certain ships are good at it, others bad at it... It gets pretty in depth.
4) No. No damage is done/taken for ramming ships.
As stated above me the learningcurve is steep but don't think you can't compete with older players and so on, everyone got their place in EVE...
Read on the forums, ask in chats and most of all... get into a playercorp those guys will help you out to a place among the stars.
Remember that the skillsystem in EVE is timebased, so you train your skills in real time, if it says it takes 7 hours to train the skill it takes 7 hours to train it no matter if you are online or not, it does not require you to be online to train the skill either.
Pace is what you makes it to be, some choose to become a miner or producer of items... others choose piracy or anti-piracy .. others again do missions and such.
It depends on what you like to do really.
Traveling can take some time but in smaller ships it goes faster than in bigger and slower ship.
I guess I try it out, let see if that giant brick wall with push me back or not, hopefully it wont interfere with my college classes next quarter. I'll just let my brother pay to play WoW though if I like the game.
If you get really into Eve, it will suck a lot of your time away from you, as do all mmo's . You must be training a skill at all times, so you will find yourself planning your days around when one training ends so you can begin another, However after a while you will start training skills that take days and even weeks and as much as a month to train so it's not so bad. Train the short time skills while your playing and then switch to a long one while your are sleeping or playing wow or whatever. Remember to learn your learning skills, they suck really, but are necessary to keeep other training times to a minimum.
I play both wow and EVe, I love them both. They are completely different than one another. Just remember that it is basically player driven, the storyline really isn't important. It's the corporations and Alliances that make Eve the fun that it is. You must join a good group of people in order to get it, otherwise Eve can get boring really fast.
one point i shuld make. new players are poor when compeating with high lever guys in pvp.
but 4-8 new guys working together can beat him easy.
EvE is a lot about teamwork
