6.7 download speed on a cabel modem - HELP

Obviously I'm having some issues with the speed of my download. I read some previous posts and they dsaid to delete the SOG folder in the Launcher folder and re-install with the SoG file on my desktop...which I did and my download speed is still horrible.

I never considered myself challenged before this, but if someone can give me a very precise and easy to understand walkthrough on what I need to do to correct the problem I would be very much appreciative of your time to help me out.

Are you talking about the few MB that get downloaded as patches? That's probably because the D&L patch server is a bit overloaded, there's nothing you can do to speed that up, really. It should take a few minutes tops. If you have to download more then a few MB then you probably didn't install the SOG.exe correctly.

You said you have your SOG.exe on your desktop.. are you sure you decompressed it into the Launcher folder? It's easyest if you move your SOG.exe into your launcher folder then double click it to decompress. It will go in the correct directory then.

If launcher.exe is installed as normal. It should create C:Program FilesDark and LightLauncher

Move the SOG.EXE (the 1.4gb file) into C:Program FilesDark and LightLauncher

Then double-click SOG.exe and it should have "C:Program FilesDark and LightLauncher" filled in, click install.

When its done go to C:Program FilesDark and LightLauncherSOG and delete dnl.ini

Now run launcher and let it update a couple of files.

Ok this is what I did and I'm an idiot and so far everything is good (fingers crossed)

1) dl both torrent files (you have obviously done this) I had a seperate folder for this.

2) I deleted everything I had tried before except the torrent files so there was no confusion

3) dbl click the launcher brown moon icon remove launcher if already installed and then repeat to install

4) I draged the sog torrent file onto desktop

5) right click on start find Program Files then find the launcher file and open it.

6) Drag the sog torrent from desk top into the launcher file and then dbl click and install it

7) Delete the dnl configuration file (note pad with a cog)

8) dbl click the launcher to start should have about 5mb left rather than 1.35gb

 

Hope this kind of helps and I haven't missed anything I think.  I also want to thank all the people who helped me get to this point, THANK YOU.

i did the same but for some #$3$ reason i have freakin 633mb to d/l at 7kb/sec and i left it on all nite only to come back to a message that states that the program cannot get the file from the server.

Then maybe just delete everything and start again downloading the torrent files.  Remember to install it in the launcher file not any of the others within the launcher file.  Hope this helps.  You cant get on at the moment anyway some "technical difficulties"
