The more I read about Vanguard, the more excited I become to adventure in what looks to be a gorgeously rendered, dazzingly detailed world, and I'd like to find an adventuring party with whom I can start my experience there whenever the game launches. Who knows, they could screw it up royally, but what I hear sounds great.
Let me start by saying I'm not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I'm not a powerleveler and raid content, while fun, is a distant consideration for me. My family will always come first, and I simply can't spend five hours a night at the computer every night, or even many nights -- except for maybe right after launch ;-). And I'm not looking to start a guild, I've done that already.
What I would like is to build a fellowship, a small group of friends who intend to play at roughly the same time and who share similar values and playstyles, who may or may not someday start or join a guild. The game will apparently include fellowships as formal structure in which members share experience, whether online or off. I think the mechanic is an interesting parallel to what I'd like to have in an adventuring party ... a group of friends for whom the group experience is as important as individual advancement. Apparently this will be particularly important in Vanguard, as levels will separate players not only by content, but geography, as well.
I'd like to team up with mature, literate, witty, family-oriented players who don't take gaming too seriously, people who read, who follow the news, who have a clue about what's going on in the world so that they realize ANYTHING that happens in game is trivial by comparison. People who have a life outside of gaming and aren't afraid to use it.
I'd like to find people who can enjoy the view from a real-life mountain top, as well as a virtual one, and will spend time in their real and virtual lives doing so from time to time. Exploration is one of the things I enjoy most about MMORPG's, and real life, and Vanguard's world looks to be shaping up as an amazing one to explore. I'd rather let the world unfold for me instead of racing to get every competitive advantage, unlock every mystery and obtain every artifact.
I'd like to find people who enjoy roleplaying, but who realize that spewing purple prose isn't playing a role, that you don't always have to be melodramatically avenging your parents, and that sometimes, it's more fun after a hard day at work to go OOC and shoot the xxxx while beating down some virtual baddies.
And I'd like to find people who believe that playing honorably and respecting other players is important.
I'm not sure about factional alignments or continental conflicts or anything in this game, but I generally prefer to play a "good" character. Unless I pick up something else in the interim, Vanguard will be my sixth mmorpg (EQ, DAOC, SWG, EQ2, WoW), although I've played some (SWG, WoW) much more than others. I typically play a ranged combat, healing or arcane casting class, and in this game I'm considering ranger or druid, although that may change entirely as we learn more about the game. I'm also interested in the diplomatting sphere, but am unlikely to advance my character much in crafting. I'm in the Eastern time zone and typically play two to three hours no more than four nights a week, sometimes beginning around 8p, other nights as late as 11p. I sometimes will play longer sessions on weekends and weekend days, as well, but the day sessions would be fairly rare. If Sigil creates an RP server, I'd likely want to locate there.
As in life, having friends in a game makes all the difference, and I'd like to start this one off right. I may try to recruit some friends from other games, but that's a bit like herding cats (hell, this might be too!). I'm doing this now because I think it would be terrifict to get to know folks before launch day, learn about the game together and decide which races, classes and starting areas we'd each like to pick so that we'll have an effective enough group to enjoy the game from the beginning.

Hedrif I up for starting adventuring group with you , as a former player of some top rated mmorpg i know what it is like to log on and have no one to say " hi wanna go kill that named" , been on many times where i spend an hour or so just looking for a group and you idea to create a group that starts almost at the same time and is on only a bit at a time as not to out lvl thier companions is a great idea.
If you decied to actually do this then let us know what your name and server will be and we could maybe start this thing up
I'll do it. I'm not too serious of a gamer either.
Probably won't check back here 'till a week or two after it releases. I also might be a few weeks late to start.
I would like to join a guild as well, anyone who is recruting for me?
Wow, I totally just messed up that sentence. Let me start over. I'm an avid MMORPG player who has 4 games under his belt (EQ,FFXI,WOW, and Maple story if that counts) I'm a pretty steady player but I go pretty crazy on weekends ( anywhere up to 20-30 hours on weekends) since my work load is off and no college work. This depends on if the girl wants to go out or something so that number could drastically change. I'm very laid back and easy to get along with and think that you have a really good idea, I would like to join this guild/clan/group whatever you want to call it and get ot know people before the game is even released. Thanks for reading!

Hey Brad or anyone else who is looking for a guild. Check out http://www.malus-imperium.net. Right now it is just our forum, we are currently working on the website. But you can find some information about the guild there.
