Erm dude you do realise that people play at different times so why come up with 17k per server?
Also makes me wonder if you ever played many mmorpg .For one go play WoW and ask people there. For a vast majority its their first mmorpg. It opened new customers to a GROWING genre.
As for lineage series majority of its customers are based in Asia while EQ1 never had much of a following there anyhow.
Lineage for one has had over 2m players for a few years now even.
Also SoE cust back on number of GMs when they took over .So yeah they are greedy sods(not argueing there) trying to make maximum profit for ages.
We still want prove of this 30k subs left in EQ1 you claim
No one is argueing it has not lost customers.Afterall it was stable at 500k for a long time and as of july 2005 it has lost 50k maybe more now even. But no where near the 30k you claim. In short you claimed EQ1 USED to have only 80k .

This is the explainer from mmogcharts
It is true that many companies keep their subscriber numbers confidential, but others are more open about it. Almost all of the data I use comes from actual sources, although often those sources are insiders who only give the information on the condition of anonymity. If I simply wanted to make up numbers, Id put out an update every week, and those updates would quickly be revealed as faulty when compared to, say, company press releases. So, while I am the first to admit that the data is not always reliable, it does represent the best research in the industry to date, and it is most definitely not made up or at least, not by me. In the rare event that an actual guess does appear on my chart, you will find the Accuracy Rating for that MMOG appropriately adjusted my Analysis. For more discussion on this point, I recommend you read the Analysis section of my research and draw your own conclusions.
Mind explaining how SirBruce's insiders are somehow more credible than bhug's?

Right who should we believe?
Bhug who openly has a axe to grind with EQ1(or SoE).Has not done a sinlge piece of research.Comes up with a 80k figure which USED to be what SoE had when even at their 5th anniversary last year the company released a press statement saying over 450k.
Or sirbruce that has dedicated many hours to phoning and emailing.Has given us accurate figures on more then one occasion weeks before the companies made offical statements. Is known by most mmorpg CSR.
Guess it same as saying why buy paracetamol which has loads of research behind it to cure my headache when "madam X tonic" selling from her mobile stand down the road can do the same.
But guess thats the kind of people that keeps madam x in buisness.
Truth be told everyone is free to believe what they like i rather go with more reliable sources anyday thanks.
And you mention insiders of bhug??uh.Where did you see him post of insiders to begin with .It is what he perceives he posted on.
Whats funny is i read all this crap. Info from a survey over a year old, and stuff. Yet no one has yet to mention how many of the soe subs are really Sony all access passes. Ya I had one at one point till i realized eq was a waste of time and well they screwed us swg vets over, and well didnt find much use for it after that. So really that mmochart is really not helpfull right know, not to mention what company is gonna tell the public the truth ( Oh ya sony does, after the info was leaked).
In all honesty wether I agree with the mmorpg chart or not it really doesn't mean squat for what out there know as far as subs are concerned. So stop arguing for christ sake( since I have yet to see any up to date facts.).

hehe... maybe, but you weren't attacking anyone. You just sounded rough as if you needed a drink or some coffee. And you're right. We just don't know about subscriber numbers for the most part, especially, I think, SOE's. I don't think they seperate their games anymore. It probably looks better that way for them. Sooo... whether or not you believe SirBruce and his sooper sekret unnamed sources, or some punter at your local pub... you're believing someone who may not have up to date, or even correct information. The only way to know for sure, it to take a gander at the stats the company keeps... and they probably won't let you have them.

SOE Station Access only allows you to play games you've actually purchased, it doesn't give you access to all SOE games right from the beginning. For instance, I've bought MxO, EQ2 and SWG and that's why they're all part of my Station Access subscription. As to this, it's possible to know the actual number of EQLive subscriptions (dunno if mmogchart specifically does take them into account).
As a side note, any trial accounts I had (EQLive, Planetside) also got fully activated with Station Access.
Currently playing: * City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant. * City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.

Actually the last survey is under 5 months old not 1 year.
With so many false "facts," and misinformation, I have lost the meaning of this thread.
I think the opinions are something like, "SOE is an evil, corrupt, money-grubbing corporation which does not care about those players who shovel their money to them and are attempting world dominance through online games." Or something like that.
Lucan D'Lere as Sony Online Entertainment, the grand, evil overlord.
I am sure their shareholders feel the company is doing a very good job.
